My Father passed away two hours ago as the result of prostate cancer which metastasized into his bones, he was a month short of turning 77.
He was a great man, he was an immigrant from New Zealand, visiting his brother in San Francisco on his way to Brazil to make his millions. While in San Francisco he met my mother and became a permanent US resident. On their second date his fortune cookie said "the person you are with now will be with you for the rest of your life."
He was a incredible mining engineer for both Kaiser and Homestake Mining up until the late 80's when he became semi-retired.
He was an amazing father to me and I respected his thinking mind immensely. He taught me about so many things, he made the world incredibly interesting to me.
He told me about three years ago about his prostate cancer, at the end of the day the reading said one thing, men eat your broccoli never cook it more than 5 minutes!
Dad I love you, will always miss you, thank you so much for your guidance as a man! My fellow Freepers eat your broccoli!

Losing your Father is a serious punch from God. I pray for the well being of those left. My Father left when I was 13. It really hurt.
