Not only did a lot of people show up at the Lincoln Memorial and around the reflecting pool on Saturday, the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jrs famed I have a dream speech, but the mainstream media drew criticism for reporting the obvious. They were mostly white.
Maybe I just wasnt paying attention in the weeks leading up to the event, but I assumed Glenn Beck was going to use the platform to call attention to the key issues with which the nation is struggling and which will influence the outcome of the forthcoming November midterm elections. Obviously I was wrong.
I have been to an evangelical tent meeting. I actually met the late Oral Roberts long ago in Columbus, Georgia where he invited me to attend. I can still recall the fervor of that evening and I was reminded of it while watching Beck.
There was a lot of talk of God, but I dont recall that Dr. King, a preacher of astonishing power, was preaching Christ Jesus that day forty-seven years ago. King focused on the problem that had been troubling the soul of America since the days of the Revolution, the days of the Civil War, the Reconstruction, and the hundred years that had passed since then.
So the criticism is of the Beck rally is:
1. Not enough like an evangelical tent meeting
2. Not enough like MLK’s original speech
3. Both 1 & 2
4. Neither 1 nor 2
5. I don’t have the slightest idea, actually, and neither does the author, but I just hate Beck, like the author does.
The clear problem is that too many peps showed up.
peeps.
hope you don't mind the alteration.
And the black peeps, up on stage, got totally ignored by the media.
You had it right the first time.
Peps... as in rally peps.
We really enjoyed the 3 hour Beck fund raising event for Warriors of Soldiers.
So many will twist, denounce and pee upon what Beck and freinds did.
It only gave us a lift in spirit of what we have held near and dear to our souls in our life time.
No critism here.
He had the guts to do this, Glory all to God.
The clear problem is that too many white peps/peeps showed up.
To watch and listen to “black” folks being honored and speaking[among others of course]....
Oh the horror.
Would you perhaps feel compeled to post a pic of some folks that share your views/heart/soul??????
Don't feel compelled too.
And those pesky Indians/Mexicans/ect...
LOL Beck did well.
Wish Alan Keyes and others would have tossed some Love Becks way.
Meanwhile...yes we saw a few minutes of Rev. Al’s divisive pony show.
As a former drug & alcohol abuse counselor, I see reflected in Glenn Beck the same mindset that destroyed many of my clients - a mystical belief they must surrender to the collectivists of AA to save themselves instead of using their God given ability to reason their way to complete recovery.
Therefore, what I saw Saturday wasn’t a prayer meeting, it was a massive AA meeting.
No doubt the next thing Beck will be telling us next that we are all suffering from the “disease” of socialism, and that we must attend his “meeting” daily if we are to be in “recovery” (never recovered) from the disease of socialism.
Beck, for all of his American Revolution preaching, seems to have missed its central thesis which was that man should use his God given ability to individual reason and not the sanction of a “group consiousness.”
In effect, Beck says that a “mystical collectivist conciousness” is needed to oppose “socialist mystical consiousness” - I’d say Beck’s cure is worse than the disease.
Yes, Beck, like most AA Nazis, is creepy.
Clearer problem was all those folks dressed in Red/White/Blue...
(and not trash left behind)
Wow you percieved that?
I saw through all the “stuff” and just captured the “stuff” I wanted to enjoy.
Perhaps you have a better opinion of Obama?
I didn’t hear what you did.
Beck Derangement Syndrome.
Started here in FR in 2010.
1. Beck is not running for office
2. Beck is not asking for your vote or your money
3. Beck called for an Honor America rally and a lot of people came.
4. You are demeaning that rally (and all those people, did you read any of their comments, those who actually went?) and downgrading all those people to AA collectivists (whatever the f* that even means)
5. You are basically saying that all those people who went to that rally to support AMERICA didn’t really go for that reason and they all need to come to YOU to find out the REAL reason they went to the rally
Thank You for being honest.
As a former.
BTW I am not a fan of AA or anyother group sob story.
I think it can also apply to you.
And by the way, I am not a Mormon and I am not promoting Beck for anything. I'm not even saying you should watch his show.
As a former.
?
Yes there was also that praying to a “higher power” of your choice thingy...
