Red State reports that Google might be giving bogus results about maps and directions to Glenn Becks rally.
"A reader emails that if you search Google today, on the eve of Glenn Becks rally, a search for Lincoln Memorial turns up, instead, the wrong address. And not just any wrong address either; it takes you to the FDR Memorial. Curious."
I have to say, and this may not be popular, but I question Glenn Beck and his motives. Dont yell at me. I dont disagree with his message or the research hes done. I just dont like this whole cult of personality thing going on here.
Creeps me out.
It was one click proof.
No hoax - Google turns up FDR memorial as first hit - with directions - for “Lincoln Memorial”.
As far as not affecting anyone - if I were using my Iphone while driving - I wouldn’t be reading the teeny tiny script that said FDR -
So, you agree with his message; you just don’t like the messenger? Has what Glenn said proven to be true, or has it been false? If Glenn hadn’t brought the message forth, who would have?
Glenn financed a phenomional amount of his personal money to make this message as large as possible. Would you have done the same? Would you have bought every ticket in the Kennedy Center - so you KNEW that every single ticket would be GIVEN away?
Seems like some sour grapes to me. Glenn is a great American. I am asking questions like “Why hasn’t Sean Hannity or Rush dones something like this?
Either one of them has far more money than Glenn Beck has.
Shouldn't that be the Ted Kennedy Memmorial?
That’s strange. That’s exactly the way I feel about some Freepers who can’t give me a reason for why they don’t like somebody.
Beck is doing something..and at some risk to his career...and himself, probably.
It’s all too easy to sit at your computer, or behind a mic...but Beck is putting himself out there, literally.
I admire him.
I usually discount the conspiracy theories about Google, attributing it to mere stupidity on Google’s part.
But this one is really creepy. You search “Lincoln Memorial” and the only tag they give is for FDR. If you search Roosevelt Memorial it works, search Washington Monument it works, search Washington Mall it works. Even Newseum works. The Lincoln Memorial is clearly marked on the google map (I mean it’s labelled and dotted), but no search I can find will actually indicate where the Lincoln Memorial is.
The only question is whether it was that way a month ago.
I’m amazed that so many people who claim he “creeps them out” do not know why he “creeps them out” nor can they explain why they who are so “creeped out” cannot resist writing threads about being “creeped out” or clicking on a link to a thread about what “creeps them out,” for no other reason than to inform the world that they won’t listen to the guy who “creeps them out,” which is another way of saying they have nothing relevent to say about it other than they just want us to know they are “creeped out” by Beck’s sometimes humorous, sometimes serious effort to revive interest in American history, are willfully uninformed, and proud enough of it to tell everyone they know. Now that’s creepy. :-)
I was in DC for the Tea Party last fall. It is IMPOSSIBLE to miss the action. Just follow the people or ask someone. There are thousands upon thousands of people down there. Once someone gets off the metro, everything is pretty much right there. And if they planned to get off on a different stop, they’ll figure it out at the station and realize where everyone is going. Google maps is not a concern - at all.
Also, it’s considerd good manners on FR to follow up one’s threads.
He just creeps me out because he’s creepy looking. Like they put too much powder on his face, and too much lipstick on his lips. He’s bland white with rosy red lips, and with his hair the way it is, he just looks a little crazy on his own TV show.
That’s funny, thanks for the laugh. It’s ridiculous, isn’t it?
I think he is trying to bring up the role that faith in God had in the founding.
My liberal (lacking logic) daughter asked me why I was going to DC for Beck. I told her that I am NOT going for Beck, but to hear Dr. Alveta King and to stand UP for Honor, Faith, Hope, Charity, the troops and to feel part of an American resurgence.
She didn’t answer me so I guess she is too far gone to understand what all of that means.
I have failed as a father and parent.
honestly I think Glenn is just alittle bi-polar. But I think you have to be alittle to live in this crazy world. You watch the news and it makes you crazy and mad and you need to pull yourself away to bring your self back down to earth.
I think he’s handsome. He has a fair complextion. I think it looks worse when they use too dark of make up.
I guess one can always listen to the radio instead. Or not. Different strokes for different folks. But, if his message is good, what difference does it make what he looks like? That is just plain petty.
Now, we're “cult” members if we listen to Glenn Beck? Man, when Liberals don't have a leg left to stand on they just get “feelings” or the “willies.” I'm so exhausted with this kind of junior high “handsy slapping.”
I want the grown-ups back in charge. Yesterday.
(sp) complexion.
What have either of you EVER DONE FOR AMERICA??? SO YOU BOTH RUN DOWN A MAN WHO’S SACRIFICED MUCH, AND HAS TO USE PERSONAL SECURITY EVERY DAY TO PREVENT SCUM FROM KILLING HIM.
Go ahead, tell us of your massive patriotism!
You are both small minded nothings.
I agree. Thank you!
Someone at Google should grow up. It’s very disturbing that a company that offers a map service is willing to deceive people. The next time it might not be an easily found location.
As to Glenn Beck, if he becomes more important than God, family and country, that’s probably more the fault of the fan than his. I don’t agree with everything he says, but he does make a lot of good points and is much better at genuine “teachable moments” than Mr. Soetoro. The emotional moments are not everyone’s taste, but the facts he brings forward from history and from the Constitution are worth listening to.
