A proposal to build a Ku Klux Klan monument steps from the 16th Street Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama received the support of a downtown committee despite some loved ones of 1963 bombing victims finding it offensive.
The 13-story White Peoples Cultural Center was unanimously endorsed by the 12-member Community Board financial district committee.
The $100 million project, called Fiery Cross, is proposed for the old laundromat building at 606 16th Street N, just one block from the site of the September 15, 1963 bombing by members of the Ku Klux Klan that took the lives of four children.
I think it will be a wonderful asset to the community, said committee Chairman Vid Kwizlynge.
Exalted Grand Cyclops Bobby Frank Roy Royston, who helped found the Infinite Knights of the Ku Klux Klan following the September 15, 1963 attack on the church, said the project is intended to foster better relations between the Negro community and whites.
He said the cross-shaped glass-and-steel building would include a state-of the art digitial exterior lighting system designed to create the illusion of flame. A swimming pool and a basketball court would also be included. Theres nothing like it, said Royston, adding that facilities will be open to all Alabamians.

Liberals don't respond when you point out their hypocrisy, they just change the subject or call you names. That was the response I received.
So the liberals go postal when they can’t get their way or win the argument.
You did not really have to ask, did you. Wait, the world is getting so crazy who knows what is real.
The next thing you know some islamic group will be wanting to build an islamic community center at ground zero.
That's the response I've always gotten too.
When you're in the mood for fun, though, press the point. Demand an answer, and keep bringing the subject back after they change it.
They go stark, raving mad, right in front of you.
You want to see the demon inside them? That'll bring it out, every time.
The Constitution protects both the KKK’s and Muslim’s Property Rights.
Newt already suggested that one. And with giant swastikas on the outside walls.
LOL, awesome.
I have done that on occasion...it's fun to see them froth at the mouth.
Let them build the Mosque there. Let them try. I doubt that one trade union worker will work on the project, and I doubt that the NY Trade Unions will not allow anyone else to work on the site.
Is the police going to arrest millions of us? Yes, millions? I would go to jail in protest of that Mosque being built there.
Let those Islamic bas*ards try having their shovel ground breaking photo op. Every Firefighter, Policeman and anyone remotely connected to 911 will be there to stop it from happening.
Go ahead, build your Mosque...
You're fooling yourself.
Only in Alabama.
I’ve often wondered how far someone would get with an application for 501 (c) (3) status as a Mayen priest and to build a temple for human sacrifices.
If it were built, I’d suggest that LIBs be the sacrifices except that they have no hearts.
Nicely done.
“16th Street Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama”
I guess you aren’t smart enough to know that the 16th Street Baptist Church is in Birmingham and not Montgomery. Satire went over your head and you want to criticize Alabama because you didn’t get it. That’s fine so go ahead and take your best shot because we’re used to it.
By the way “Roll Tide”
But, but, but, but...the prez-UH-dent says the freedom of religion guarantees anyone the right to build a church whereever they please....
Calm down rider. Sheesh. I see the heart attack coming at any moment. Is it that serious????? WOW! Hate to see you when I say something really stupid.
I was thinking a statue of Robert Byrd outside the Hotel where MLK was killed would be a good analog as well.
Byrd is a distinguished, long serving senator right? Just like Isam is TROP..??..
Yes, you have the First Amendment right to protest the Muslims exercising their First Amendment, 5th Amendment and 14th Amendment rights.
