A proposal to build a Ku Klux Klan monument steps from the 16th Street Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama received the support of a downtown committee despite some loved ones of 1963 bombing victims finding it offensive.
The 13-story White Peoples Cultural Center was unanimously endorsed by the 12-member Community Board financial district committee.
The $100 million project, called Fiery Cross, is proposed for the old laundromat building at 606 16th Street N, just one block from the site of the September 15, 1963 bombing by members of the Ku Klux Klan that took the lives of four children.
I think it will be a wonderful asset to the community, said committee Chairman Vid Kwizlynge.
Exalted Grand Cyclops Bobby Frank Roy Royston, who helped found the Infinite Knights of the Ku Klux Klan following the September 15, 1963 attack on the church, said the project is intended to foster better relations between the Negro community and whites.
He said the cross-shaped glass-and-steel building would include a state-of the art digitial exterior lighting system designed to create the illusion of flame. A swimming pool and a basketball court would also be included. Theres nothing like it, said Royston, adding that facilities will be open to all Alabamians.

What could possibly go wrong?
Not only that, but the U.S. Air Force is going to build a flight school for bombing pilots in Hiroshima! I’m sure it will be small and respectful.
Didn’t the President get involved, and shout into the bully pulpit on this one - good move! ;)
An interesting parallel to the mosque issue in NYC
Satire, right?
Is this a farce story? It’s amusing in that I asked a liberal just the other day if they’d embrace almost exactly this sort of move by the KKK.
....and this is no joke!
“An interesting parallel to the mosque issue in NYC”
Yes it is.
I thought about something like this, but how about a German Heritage Museum next to the Holocaust Museum.
Remember when Maxine Waters called for the investigation of the regulators who were worried about Fannie Mae?
Congressional Investigations can be the tool of a tyrannical government. It should not be legal use this to quench the 1st amendment.
The State Department has just sent the Grand Cyclops on a mission to build more KKK Centers in Africa.
And the award for the most vivid imagination goes to...
LOL!
What say you, President Hussein?? They’re within their rights, right? Adjunct Professor of Law Hussein?
Perfect. Thank you!
Yes, but, the Democrats/Liberals/MSM have 2 sets of standards that they want us true Americans to live by.
What was their response ?
