This Will Not End With Me

This will not end with me.

The pictures of Washington and Lincoln might be gone from classrooms, but I remember gazing at them on those walls. The American flags in the corners. The tall windows. The old desks. The copies of McGuffey Readers. The emphasis on math quizzes and times tables, on American history and geography. A prayer to start the day.

This will not end with me.

The entire country watched in wonder when Apollo 11 went to and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. We marveled at the space blankets and space bars that came as a result. The TVs playing after midnight, all to watch “one small step for Man” brought Mankind to its knees in a prayer of thanks to God and American knowhow.

This will not end with me.

Hand me downs and paper routes were commonplace. Working from young ages was a way to learn self-reliance. Pride of craftsmanship and knowing how to cook and change tires, pick apples, paint and sweep floors were simple tasks all boys and girls, men and women knew.

This will not end with me.

Knowing good value for good products, pride of ownership, and faith in the God of our Fathers bespeaks America’s bright self-confidence, ebullience, good will and forthright honesty testifies to our pioneering will and belief in our future.

God is with these values. And so are we Americans. We led so many to freedom. Now we must lead ourselves back to our forebears’ legacy. Born of shed blood from that on The Cross of Christ to the boots on the ground, for the sake of our and our children’s lives, this cause will not end with me.

I paid my two nieces $100.00 if they read
Liberty and Tyranny, then write a 25 word
per chapter book report for each chapter.

(They are 18 and 22.)

It’s not stopping with me, ether.

Breathe
Relax
Aim
Squeeze
Shoot

You gotta have BRASS. And a shoulder capable of slinging clay pidgeons.

I flat out got that wrong. Funny. I had to smack myself!

Funny how a good 'smack' can clear out those cobwebs! {8-)

“I’ve passed it on to my young who are teaching their young as we speak!!!”

Same here. While I certainly cannot stand what is happening to this country by those people, I’ve made darn sure that my kids don’t have to deal with ANY of it. That means teaching them at home, using Saxon Math (hardcover only), making darn sure that they can change a tire and much more (timing belt, catalytic converter, etc.). Needless to say electrical, plumbing, and framing have been taught too. For the girl, it’s a bit less intensive, but I still want her to be prepared, in case she ends up with a metro type. Obviously, no TV and very limited Internet for them. It works.

You’re right! My mom became a total TANG freak! We practically had it stuffed in our sandwiches. She took it everywhere.

She also baked Ho Hos. True story. Just to experiment with the packaging, I think.

Good post for today, c_b, the 41st anny of Apollo 11.

I'm the 'reminder of things historical in my family / friends, and posted about Apollo 11 today elsewhere.

A friend responded - "with freakin' slide rules!", and I replied with:

Yes, and pocket protectors, thick-rimmed black-framed glasses, short sleeve white dress shirts, pipes, and fedoras. IOW, our dads' generation.

Awesome!

Think I’ll do that w/ my kids.

Although I’d make them read The Road to Serfdom, and the Ominous Parallels. ‘Pod

My wife is a teacher. She wears one of her many crosses every day and keeps a bible on her desk, though she doesn't read from it during class. She has a large collection of angels on a shelf in her room and in 08 reprimanded several 8th graders who were saying nasty things about McCain.

A full size American flag, from her dad's casket (Army WWII), covers one wall.

Every year collage age kids and older come by in the summer to tell her she made all the difference in their life. Several have said they hated school and now are teachers and will try to be just like her. A couple have dedicated books to her.

Six years ago she was teacher of the year in one of the biggest districts in Texas and people fight to get their kids in her class. The administration pays her an extra stipend to run a high school leadership group after normal hours. They visit local judges, city hall, jails, and church backed food pantries. They along with her classes work with the VA Hospital to supply homeless vets with clothes, tooth brushes, phone cards and much more. I guess it's just where you live.

TV is now 100% propaganda and they 100% support Obama.

The only good I have seen lately is Mort Zuckerman who owns TONS of commercial real estate, Newsday newspaper in NYC. He was a big O supporter and now he is getting concerned.

When these billionaires start to waiver then they might get rid of him. The only way is to hit them in their pocketbook and that means TV and movies.

I no longer trust Fox or Murdoch. He supported Blair who gave the UK the Islamification treatment to destroy the UK. Why does Murdoch do this? Access to the islamic and chinese satellite TV market. The Saudis own over 7% of Fox aka News Corp. Murdoch's son Lachlan was supposedly a Christian but he pretty much left after Murdoch married after his wife died to a young ChiCom woman. I further wrote off Fox when Beck and O'Reilly made fun of birthers.

I’d like to go “Clockwork Orange” with my sister my audio-book copy.

She voted for the jerk from peer pressure.

She won’t look me in the eye anymore.

...make them read The Road to Serfdom, and The Ominous Parallels.

You are the only other person that I have ever seen mention The Ominous Parallels here, on FR. Dr.Peikoff was a teacher of mine back in 1983-1985.
