I watched the clip and shrugged it off, thinking, Yeah, granted, sixth grade is a tad young to be attuned to left-wing indoctrination. But hes a bright kid, and its not like weve never seen a precocious conservative before.
But then I did a Google News search, and
dude.

My IQ is in the eight quintile, I speak Esperanto like a native, and I too know a great robot joke.

I have no problem believing you were reading at 5. I entered Kindergarten at 4 reading several grades above my level. Back then there was no formal testing to say "She is reading at ____ level." I remember reading the original Heidi book over and over when I was 5. My mom used that as proof to my dad that buying me books wouldn't be a waste of money.
My mother doesn't even know when I started reading to myself, but she remembers my reading a book to my brother when he was 3 and I was almost 4. How far ahead of that I was reading is anyone’s guess.
And no, I don't consider myself a genius, but I was precocious in language arts, and the opposite in math.
Oddly enough, my mom says she read to me very little when I was young. She was 18 when she had me, 18.10 months when she had my brother, so she was busy to say the least. I just learned.

Dick and Jane however were boring beyond belief! You needed to get the versions illustrated by R. Crumb.

Yep, I can remember reading scifi about cars, believe it or not, and airplanes that could fly as fast as 300 MPH. These were very early works of science fiction. Heinlein and others were a bonus.
I am glad to see by the many postings that I was not a loner when it came to reading at an early age. Great. To me reading is one of the greatest things going, maybe eclipsed by writing since we would have nothing to read if it wasn't for writers!:)

I was born during the First depression...we were living in a house with newspaper pasted on the walls to keep out the wind.
My mother told me I started reading the newspaper on the walls in my bedroom...I then advanced to her Amazing Stories, Astounding and Startling...I also was 5..went to First Grade in Lee Vining, CA..was placed in eighth Grade reading and almost had to be taught to count on my fingers. I still am almost functionally illiterate in math. Is this a right brain/left brain type of thing.
