American historian David Barton sent Glenn Beck a note last night about coach John Wooden who passed away recently at age 99, telling him about a piece of paper Wooden carried in his wallet: a 7-point creed his father had given him. But it had been edited "slightly" by the NYTimes in the obit they wrote. They took out "the Bible" and the part about giving thanks for your blessings every day. It's incredible.
Here's what was on that paper:
Be true to yourself. Make each day a masterpiece. Help others. Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible. Make friendship a fine art. Build a shelter against a rainy day. Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day.
Woodenisms. Worth reading. Worth living. Worthy. "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
Thirdwavedave has a wonderful four-minute long video interview with Coach Wooden. Don't cheat yourself of the experience of watching it.
“All the News That’s Fit to Print?”
Or
“All the News That Fits the Agenda”
Are they so stupid that they are wondering why the print media are dying, or do they know and not care?
Miss him already. Let’s hope other coaches of young adults will follow in Wooden’s footsteps.

Well, this guy, whoever he was, was a sucker and a chump and a sap who obviously never read Ayn Rand. /s
I'll be waiting for my next opportunity to take my next gratuitous poke at Ayn Rand.
It's not like the Ayn Rand believers and quoters I'd want to see my remarks are following my posts on FR anyway.
For the Old Grey Lady, it’s “all the news they see fit to print”.
