The news of John F. Kennedys assassination was so shocking, so unexpected that it generated a gasp heard round the world. People simply stopped breathing for a second. If you lived through it, you know what I mean. If you didnt, ask your parents or grandparents. They will tell you precisely what they were doing and how they felt when they heard the news.
The overwhelming quest for closure continues to this day. We are still searching for answers. Over two million visitors from all over the world make a solemn pilgrimage to the grassy knoll in Dealey Plaza each year. Most come to see what they have only read about or seen on film. Others come because they feel it is sacred ground.
Though I was only eleven years old in 1963, my grief was as tangible as any adult. Buoyed by Kennedys ask not what your country can do for you speech, I felt the promise of America. But when I heard the news of his death, I was engulfed with a sadness that was more profound than any emotion I had ever experienced.
On that cold November morning in 1963, I stood stoically with my family on Constitution Avenue awaiting the funeral cortege. Thousands of people lined the streets in mournful silence. I heard the cortege before I saw it. The relentless drumbeats reverberated through the Capital, conveying the finality of death....

I just long for people to stop talking about the Kennedy’s.
Horrible event.
But who is longing for “closure”?
I’m looking for closure regarding the Ft. Hood murders, in that I want the Islamofascist executed.
Interesting that we are the only country in which our political assassinations are done by “lone nuts”.
There is an monstrous evil being hidden from us.
“But who is longing for closure?”
Idiots with the average emotional age of eleven (okay, that might be stretching it for liberals... their average emotional age is nine).
Closure = Oswald dead.
Ditto here. They're so... 60s.
Huh? It’s been 33 years since Elvis died....I had “closure” 32 years ago.
Arlen Specter says it was Oswald. Therefore, it might not be Oswald.
Given icons from that era, I miss John Wayne the most.
I had closure when I finally realized how corrupt the Kennedy family was....

2 Chronicles 7:14
Amen to that. I once went to a club meeting here in Dallas where our speaker was the doctor at Parkland's ER who handled JFK when he was brought in. He gave a personal, eyewitness, expert account of exactly what happened, minute by minute, debunking various theories put out by people who, unlike him, were NOT in the room with the actual victim. I noticed this meeting drew some people who weren't usually there. Afterwards, when I went in the men's room, I saw a couple of guys who I'd noticed sitting in the back of the room earlier. They were scoffing at what the doctor had said and mocking him for not knowing or not revealing the real story.
HELL-OOOO! The doctor was PART of the real story! He'd had JFK's head in his hands! He'd put his fingers in the the entrance and exit wounds! But these guys had already made up their minds that if they heard anything that didn't fit with their favorite conspiracy theory, then whoever said it must be a liar or an idiot or part of the conspiracy. Even if that person had vastly more personal knowledge of the subject than they did. It's like trying to argue rationally with a liberal. It's just not possible.
That’s right.
Most of the theories were so complicated or kooky that I thought someone surely would have spilled the beans by now.
The simplest theory was that LBJ engineered it. Two bits of information led me to beleive this was the case:
Add to those the fact that LBJ urged JFK to make the trip and that LBJ's staff arranged security, the motorcade parade route and the official inquiry to whitewash the whole thing and you have what is probably the most credible theory out there for what really happened.
Yea, it’s been 47 years, so get over it.

You are so correct my brother!
We can talk about all the global conspiracies we want to but the ultimate “conspiracist” is Lucifer himself. He knows he has but a short time to act before he is thrown into the bottomless pit.
In the mid sixties my neighbor in Dallas whose last name was Nelson was an ER nurse who was on duty and attended JFK.
She would tell us the details of what occurred in the OR that day and I believed her rather than what the conspiracy people were saying. She died at too young an age. She had been severely mentally traumatized by the event.
I left Dallas in 1968.
