NPR picks up Rosie O’Donnell talking points.
Since there are no Muslims on the court dont be surprised if Obama doesn’t pick one.
You’re making me nervous.
Nina Totenberg - no surprise.
No, too many people who think they are god on the court.
Of course he could pick an atheist too.
too many catholic speakers of the house?
Too many Greeks in the restaurant business.
Too many Jews in the entertainment business.
Too many blacks in the NBA.
Etc.
Such envy leads to pogroms and other noxious actions at worst. It says more about the lack of achievement/self worth among those inclined against an ethnic/religious group than anything else.
speaking as a catholic, it appears that catholics are the marxist’s best friends. Next to lucifer, that is.
Currently we have two Jews on the court. Reliable rumor has it that Obummer’s most likely pick to replace Stevens is Elena Kagan (Jewish). Another possibly is also Jewish (Merrick Garland). Either one would make one third of the court Jewish. IOW Jews overrepresented by a factor of about 15 relative to their numbers in the general population.
Even if you have six Catholics on the court, they are not overrepresented by anything close to a factor of 15. But do you hear NPR kvetching that the court has too many Jews? Of course not.
(Note: I am allowed to point this out because I am Jewish.)
My complaint is that there aren’t enough Catholics on the Supreme Court. After all, they’re doing a better job (with the exception of judge Sotomayor) than the other members of the Supreme Court, so let’s have more of them.
Elena Kagan is also a FDRQ.
Isn’t Sotomayor a Voodoo Priestess?
In memory of mom??
Finally, Why wasnt this written last year during Sotomoyers confirmantion?
Well, THAT seems a bit over the top. Having said that, I find that the majority of Roman Catholics are slightly left of center which, on the face of it, should make NPR, Rosie and others on the left happy. I speak as a RC, myself, and I cherish my faith. Unless you are speaking directly of Liberation Theology (which has been denounced by Rome), I can see absolutely no “friendship” whatsoever among Catholics and the dark side.
The Church, ever pragmatic, seeks to “limit” evil, if they can’t kill it off outright. To some, it may seem like the cowards way out, but to those who seek to reclaim as many souls as possible for the Lord, it would appear that to accomplish that, someone must still be around to “save souls”.
Since our country is founded upon Judeo/Christian values, I can see no better balance than Jews and Christians on the Supreme Court. I don’t care particularly whether the Christians are Catholics or Protestants, it’s their values that should be consistent with the faith. The same may be said of Jews — Orthodox or Reform — the basic values should be the same — Justice for All insorfar as imperfect humans can deliver it.
Personally, I’d rather have nine conservatives.
