For fans of the button-pushing cartoon, Family Guy, the subject matter of last Sunday's episode was hardly shocking. Chris Griffin, the show's awkward teenager, goes on a date with Ellen, a girl with Down syndrome. "So what do your parents do?" he innocently asks. Her response? "My dad's an accountant, and my mom is the former governor of Alaska."

That one-line jab at Sarah Palin's special needs son, Trig, has led to a war of words between Palin and Seth MacFarlane, the cartoon's irreverent creator. Now, the battle between the two is being waged on TV, with a little-known actress caught in the middle. "The world is full of cruel, cold-hearted people who would do such a thing," Palin said in an appearance on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor." "When is enough enough? And when are we going to be willing to say, you know, some things just aren't really funny," she added.

The moron, Seth MacFarlane, fired his own salvo in the media war. Appearing on Friday's episode of “Real Time With Bill Maher” he said Palin's complaints were an effort to obtain "phony pity." The show's host and hypocritical Jew-Hating Jew agreed with the liberal logic: "She is he queen of fake outrage...whether it's you or David Letterman, it's always got to be somebody," the midget Bill Maher said. What we see with Bill Maher is yet another example of a Jew who despises Jews, Israel and America. As a Jew, I consider him the standard Jew-Hating Jew who despises the very existence of Israel and always tries to convince us of his disdain for all Jews.

Maher was born in New York City, the son of Julie (née Berman), a nurse, and William Maher, Sr., a network news editor and radio announcer. Maher was raised in his Irish American father's Catholic religion, and did not find out that his mother was Jewish until his teenage years. Maher's family stopped attending church when Maher was thirteen, because of Maher's father's disagreement with the Catholic Church's position on birth control.

There’s a Yiddish expression which, roughly translated, states, “First of all, be a human being”. In other words, before you strive to be a parent, friend, neighbor, etc., be a human being. The Yiddish word for “human being” is one most people are familiar with - it’s the word “mensch” with all its connotations of form over substance. Simply put, Mahler isn’t a mensch - he’s not a decent human being - therefore, he can’t be a Jew.

He was raised to BE a Catholic, that does not make him a Catholic. A lot of people are raised in Catholic homes, go to church and mass with the family but are never truly Catholic, per se. They put it on forms and such when asked but have never studied the faith and what it IS to be a Catholic. I found this out as a life long Catholic only after I enrolled in a religious education/RCIA program at my church. There is more to it that the name, believe me.

The abuse directed at the children of Mrs Palin is absolutely dispicable and those that participate in it are beneath contempt.

For me the explanation is easy. Israel is a non-issue for most Jews when it comes to electing a President. Both parties try to outdo the other when it comes to support of Israel and Congress overwhelmingly supports Israel. Hence, Jewish-Americans, most of whom are very liberal, can vote for the liberal party—the Democrats.

Can you respond to my question posed in post #7? How does one trace the purity of the mother’s Jewishness? Can a mother who converted to Judaism pass on the Jewish religion to her offspring? Is it religion or ethnicity that determines the purity of the Jewishness? Are their two classes of Jews, i.e, one who are pure and inherited the religion and the other who volutarily became Jews?

Maher’s bio says he quit the church in his teens. I assume that he was baptized and confirmed as a Catholic.

I am not a jew, so not positive, but apparently the reason it follows the mother’s line is that there isn’t a doubt of who the mother is. Can’t say the same for the father.

And it’s not that they are religiously Jewish, but a child of a jewish mother has an automatic place in the “Jewish Household.” But if they reject Judaism for another religion or atheism, then they become Apostate to the Jewish faith.

Or something like that.
