If your Mother is Jewish, you are Jewish.

What constitutes a "Jewish mother?" If she had converted to Judiasm, can she convey Jewishness to her offspring?

He was raised to BE a Catholic, that does not make him a Catholic. A lot of people are raised in Catholic homes, go to church and mass with the family but are never truly Catholic, per se. They put it on forms and such when asked but have never studied the faith and what it IS to be a Catholic. I found this out as a life long Catholic only after I enrolled in a religious education/RCIA program at my church. There is more to it that the name, believe me.

Don't confuse being Jewish because you were born to a Jewish Mother with practicing the Jewish Religion or any other Religion. You can be a Jew practicing the Islamic Faith, but you are still a Jew.

Bill Maher is a Jew because his Mother was a Jew. The fact that his Family followed the Catholic Religion has no bearing. I should have said he is an insult to other Jews, not the Jewish Religion. I stand corrected in that regard.
