>>Graphics Warning<<
These photos were taken on the Bellwood Subdivision, between Seward and David City, Nebraska on the BNSF RR. Seward is about 25 miles west of Lincoln , on the Ravenna Sub. A few blizzards and sub zero temperatures coupled with moderate winds made for a beautiful, but, flash frozen environment. A freight train was snowed in at David City and a rotary snow plow was sent to clear the track of drifts that varied from 6ft or less up to 12ft in spots!! The photos were taken on Jan. 8th through Jan. 10th.

My wife works for a moving company. These photos were emailed to her from a fellow employee who works with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe RR in Nebraska.

Oh My. I remember when I worked in the law department at UPRR in Omaha NE . . . there was a death case in which they were clearing snow and one of the workers was on the side of the train, the train came of the tracks and crushed him between the train, the snow and the building. IF I recall, this is the case where his widow “settled” right after the funeral, within 2-3 hours.

Why “settled” in quotes?
Hours after the funeral seems too soon even to offer a settlement, though I suppose you have standard offers on file.

Great photos. Thanks, and thanks also for the graphics warning. That was thoughtful.
Some folks are on slow dial-ups. These pics wouldn't even load completely on some connections.

Both the BNSF and UP tracks come through our town (Rochelle, IL) and cross each other on the West end of town. You can view our track cam at
Rochelle Railroad Park. Just scroll down, it's toward the bottom on the left.
We get our share of snow, but not enough to warrant these babies...

They use the same device to clear the tracks over Donner Summit in the Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe.
