This is a strange one. John McCain goes on Jay Leno's program last night, and, without any real prompting, takes a shot at his former running mate. Watch:
Really, what gives? Would it have hurt McCain to have included Sarah Palin's name in the list of non-Rush-Limbaugh-GOP talent? The category was Republican governors, too. So there can be no mistaking who he chose to omit. "I've left out someone's name, and I'm going to hear about it..." Gee, ya think?
The whole "I don't want the president to fail" thing would have been the headline were it not for the incredibly odd diss on the woman he once touted as knowing "more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America." I guess the Arizona Senator has changed his mind.
Yet sarah palin will be campaigning for McCain’s reelection in November?
She should campaign for the true Conservative who is running against him.
Aside, from the governor's oft stated loyalty to the man, which she openly displays in her book, she follows the advice and direction of this big time power broker and McCain money man, who can make and break GOP politicians...
Fred Malek, Sarah Palin and the Case for Loyalty
Fred Malek Blog: McCain Momentum Sweeps Virginia
Listen, Sarah is not operating in a vacuum, but is planning with and receiving advice from a number of very influential GOP POTUS makers. She backs McCain and Malek continues to back her behind the scenes. She is playing the game that has to be played. Trust her instincts! They have served her well so far.
So why Sarah?
I am totally flummoxed on this one.
I have been caught off guard which is unusual for me.
I am not overjoyed hearing about this.
That’s from last April, not last night.
Nice try, though...

You should of read her book, then you wouldn’t be caught off guard.
I’m sure all those dumping on SP for this will be happy to
post their list of potential presidential candidates that have never campaigned for a RINO.
Happy to hear it.
I know that!!! That’s why I put the date right in the title. Just to show why Sarah has NO reason whatsoever to support and campaign for Mclame. NONE!
“i think sarah is in a bad spot- she would get hammered in the media if she didnt campaine for him”
If I may politely disagree.
Sarah’s base is hammering her as she should be which to me is more significant and powerful than the media.
Anyway, that is how I see it...right or wrong.
She needs rethink some things because right now she is out of touch.
Thank you.
I live in the Republic of Panama and don’t have access to her book.
“Aside, from the governor’s oft stated loyalty to the man, which she openly displays in her book, she follows the advice and direction of this big time power broker and McCain money man, who can make and break GOP politicians...Fred Malek “
This Fred Malek?? Maybe Sarah plans on running with Romney.
GOP kingmaker leans toward Mitt Romney
5/19/09
Fred Malek, a heavyweight Republican fundraiser and kingmaker, has singled out former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as the GOPs leading contender in the early stages of the 2012 Republican presidential derby.
In a largely unnoticed post to his blog late last week, Malek, a wealthy businessman who served as national finance co-chair of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, ranked Romney No. 1 on a list of influential Republicans who might both lead our party back and who might be our nominee in 2012.
Malek, who did not return an email requesting comment from POLITICO, blogged that Romney has the established organization, fundraising network, time, and talent to get the nomination this time and predicted he could be in the best position when the serious campaigning begins in early 2011.

Mr. Malek writes:
Whether you loved or hated Johns position in the Immigration debate, his actions that June exhibited the quintessential get-in-the-middle, role up your sleeves, bi-partisan leadership that has marked his service to our country. Unfortunately, at the time, much of the Republican base did not see this leadership as a positive attribute. As a result, the fundraising well dried up, and it could not have come at a worse time.

Send him a post card, as I have already done, and will again, and suggest that he save face by announcing his retirement from politics. He can earn a lot of money on a speaking tour, if he even needs to make money. I’d hate for him to be the Primary Candidate that brings Sarah Palin down.
Although Rick Perry may end up being that Candidate.

This Fred Malek? You’re doing Sarah no favors bringing this guy up as one of her ‘advisors’.
Is there a continuum of behavior whose parts cannot be separated from the whole Malek?
There was the dog killing in Peoria in the ‘50s, the Senate Watergate Committee in the ‘70s, the doomed nomination to be a governor of the U.S. Postal Service in the ‘80s, and now the Securities and Exchange Commission action in 2004.
Yes, Malek vs. the federal government two years ago.
Fred Malek and his company, for their failure to disclose to the pension fund (and pensioners) the side deal to retain and pay DiBella nearly $375,000 — and without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings — consented to the issuance of a cease-and-desist order censuring him and his company. Malek’s company was ordered to pay a civil penalty of $150,000, and he was personally made to pay a civil penalty of $100,000.
That wasn’t ancient history or a youthful indiscretion. The year: 2004. Malek was 67 years old. [snip]

Sarah’s “base” is NOT hammering her.
Sorry you couldn’t get her book.
So, who is on your list of potential presidential candidates that have never campaigned for a RINO?
I’m just telling it like it is, AuntB. It’s power politics and deals are being made behind the scenes. If it hurts Sarah Palin, then let the chips fall where they may.
The WaPo story I cited was dated July 8, 2009, two months after yours.
I don’t recall her being that ambivalent. Why should she. Either she is for someone or not. She said she campaigning for McCAin..

She said a year ago she was going to campaign for him, I really don’t know why some are shocked about it. I’m not happy about it but the backlash she is getting is ridiculous. McCain is up 20 points in the polls in Arizona and they are blaming her for it..its insane. By that logic Doug Hoffman should have won by 20 points since she endorsed him too. Her endorsing McCain has nothing to do with it
Support Hayworth, and let Sarah take care of herself. Do not let unblinking loyalty to her, as admirable and understandable as that may be, get in the way of doing the right thing, and the right thing is to elect a senator who is unmistakably opposed to the ongoing illegal alien invasion.
