HATE IS WRONG UNLESS IT IS DIRECTED TOWARDS PEOPLE WITH WHOM WE DISAGREE.
By: Andy DeStephano
Why do left wing radicals denounce intolerance unless its against something they support? How come its acceptable to dehumanize only certain people, beliefs and organizations?
Just recently radio talk show commentator Rush Limbaugh was rushed to the hospital for chest pains. As I searched for news regarding his condition, I was appalled by the comments posted by other readers. The venomous words used to express their distain for his existence were simply horrific. Although disturbed by what I read it certainly comes as no surprise as it seems Conservative bashing has become widely accepted by the Left.
Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman and Ann Coulter are prime examples and targets of liberal attacks; however when Bill ORielly commented about Helen Thomas you would have thought he had insulted Mother Theresa. The double standard of what is considered humorous and objective is extremely skewed. In fact, most are just down right mean spirited and foul. In order to be fair and objective, I also take issue when conservatives engage in these practices.
I wish that the very same people that seek to destroy Glenn Beck would have the same passion for destroying Osama Bin Laden. I would like to hear the same people that say Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers are activists agree that Sean Hannity and Mark Levin are commentators not messengers of hate. It would be nice to have these people be as irate when Michelle Malkin is attacked, as they are when Hillary Clinton is criticized. Ultimately I would love to believe the Obama Administration is as passionate about fighting terrorism and enforcing the Patriot Act as they are in eliminating Fox News and supporting the Fairness Doctrine. Once again I must admit none of these will ever happen even though this is change I can believe in.
I saw that. My thought was 'Bloody little bugger', and not too discerning. Your reply was perfect.
Still here? IBTZ II, Rise of the Troll.
Hallelujah! Thank you for a cogent, yet mild reproof!

Err... Unite! :)
Sigh. Once again, “allowing a woman to choose an abortion” is not a right: the child’s right to life must be denied for this “choice.” All our rights depend upon our right to live (dead people have no rights.) Therefore, murder is not a right, no matter what you call it. Any so-called right that contravenes the rights of another is not a right at all.
This is why there is no such thing as a right to education or healthcare: to exercise these ‘rights,’ one must first enslave a teacher and a doctor.
Anyway, what makes you so sure that the conservative position on drugs and prostitution is against legalization? Nevada is full of drinking, gambling, whoring - and Republicans. Conservatives can be against certain acts without wanting to deny people’s right to do them. Libs can’t seem to make this distinction.
Yup. Scary ain’t it.
“My argument was that the right hates and so does the left.”

No, moral relativism will not work here. Orwell’s “five minute hate” has a home on the Left, not the Right, in this country. We conservatives are not united by whom we hate, but by what: attacks on our ancient liberties. Lefties hate us just for existing; for proof, look at Sarah Palin, whose greatest offense is being a happy mother.
Oh, geeez....
So if you get zotted right now off Free Republic, your broad-brushed assertion there is "just as much hate on the right" will be validated in your mind, as FR is solidly right, yet your continued presence here carrying your arbitrary definition of "hate," a real world application Progressive liberalism has mastered in contemporary American culture, presages you inevitably getting zotted down the road.
I'd just do it now.
But that's just me, being a right-wing hater and all.
“Also, double check the definition of fascist before you throw the term around so loosely. That word is generally associated with right wing extremist, not the left.”

Lets look at the political spectrum. The political spectrum is a construct, while a population distribution chart’s bell curve comes from the actual positions of actual people on a particular subject. The idea of a spectrum, with extremes surrounding a moderate position, sounds reasonable because it sounds like a bell curve, and implies that most people are found in the middle. However, an artificial spectrum that dictates the result, like the political spectrum, is just like a push poll in place of an actual opinion poll.
The political spectrum taught to American high-school civics students has Communism, Socialism, Democracy, and Fascism shown from left to right. Therefore, moving from the Democratic Party (sorry, Democracy) to Socialism is just moderation, and certainly nothing to be worried about. The need to move left is even more pronounced when Fascism is removed from the spectrum because no decent person should be that far right (watch out for those Republicans!) Supposedly, this spectrum has survived ever since its beginning in the French revolution, when defenders of the king sat on the right and the Terrorists sat on the left. Its application to American politics, if any, is never explained.
Political choices for Americans amounted to a simple free against the various flavors of not free in the 20th century. Did Hitler try to restore the Kaiser to power? Of course not; Hitler was never on the right side of the spectrum. Fascism obscures the truth of the Nazi party: Nazi is a contraction of National Socialist. That means that socialists are both on the left and right of Democracy, and the whole concept of a spectrum is fatally flawed.
Oh, but they werent real socialists! I can hear victims of high-school civics crying in shock. Yes, Virginia, they really were, just like the New Dealers here in America, and the Apartheid regime in South Africa. The Russian and Chinese Communists also worked to nurture socialism. That this is embarrassing to modern political parties does not change history. (I havent read it yet, so I dont know how deeply he discusses other countries, but Jonah Goldbergs Liberal Fascism is sure to discuss these connections and embarrassments in America in a detailed and entertaining way.)
He countered by argueing for the use of tactical nuclear weapons.
From this and his other postings, it is clear that he is a spectacularly unsuccessful agent provocateur attempting to goad FReepers into making intemperate statements en masse, which he hopes to supply to his shallow masters as evidence that FR is a hate site.
*Yawn*.
...could CSA Rebel be an extremely desparate Bill O’Reily? Hmmm....
Nicely put.
Oh, and welcome to FR!
You are a liar or a quite ignorant.
Go look around at what DU had to say about an ambulance showing up at Limbaugh’s hotel vs. what Freepers had to say about an ambulance showing up at the President’s door a few days before. Go look at what they said about Laura Ingraham’s cancer diagnosis (such as wishing her an agonizing death as punishment for the sin of opposing single payer health care) and what we said about Elizabeth Edwards’ cancer diagnosis.
1. There is no right to cut a small child into bits and through it in the trash. Outlawing elective abortion isn't any more a violation of rights than outlawing any other form of murder.
2. You are ignorant of basic concepts that the Founders and Framers (and many Brits before them) based our laws on. Rights are given by God, so the zero sum game you describe where some people can legitimately take a right from another has as much relation to reality as a Star Wars movie has to real physics.
Bing! We have a winner!
“There is just as much hate on the right.”
No sorry there is not! People did not wish Kennedy death when his illness was announcd like they did to Rush there was no comparison in the hate coming from the left.
