Did Congress pass Obamacare at 1:00 a.m. this morning? One could be forgiven for thinking so. But one would be wrong. Today's vote was only a cloture vote to shut off debate. But months of vigorous opposition by the American people and a civil war in the Democrat Party has raised the profile of the legislation to unprecedented heights in the public eye. The cloture vote was widely reported to be 'the' vote. To 'Kerry' something is no longer a safe hiding place. If a Senator tries to Kerry this thing by telling his constituents that he 'voted for it before he voted against it,' people will just chuckle and tell him he isn't fooling anyone.
So the cloture vote was a vote for Obamacare.

Now that debate has been halted, is it not true that now the dims only need 51 votes to pass their monstrosity? If so, then even if several Senators “see the light” it will still pass.

Yes, they can. The Senate went strongly against the will of the people. When more than 60% of the people are against it, but 60% of the senate votes for it, we have a disconnect.
A serious disconnect.
A pitchfork and torches disconnect.

I don't agree. Imagine if Americans pick up their newspapers this week to see the horrors of this bill spelled out in simple terms. We need to get the word out to everyone about the mandates, jailtime, fines, taxes, abortion, etc. And we need to tell them the price we are paying for the holdout votes.
Personally, I think there's still time if opponents go all out to stop it.
There is also preferential treatment in hospitals for members of “underrepresented minorities.”
Obama only wants a bill. Any bill to sign. They will amend it the way they want it later. They could hand him a blank piece of paper and he would sign it.
After Christmas eve vote, If the house accepts Reid’s bill as it is,no conference, then it is done.

I think we need to get on the phone and tell our Republican Senators to object to the appointment of the conferees.

That being said: It ought to scare the pants off of everyone when they stop and think-"What is this really going to do to us if someone is willing to commit political suicide over a piece of legislation? What is this really all about?"
'Cause you know they didn't do it out of some sense of Charity. What is really in this legislation that they are willing to "die" for it?

The timing of this alone is disgusting. The week we should be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ with our families and enjoying ourselves, we are getting this atrocity committed against us. I’m not going to be able to enjoy Christmas at all.
