All I can say is, WOW.
Avatar is a 3-D feast for the eye which should propel James Cameron to the status of legend. In fact, after a decade or two of perspective, I fully expect that this groundbreaking work will be studied in the best film schools, right about the time they are covering Riefenstahl.
Seldom has a film been made which combines cutting edge technology, the highest standards of quality, and a deep, self-indulgent loathing of all things which The Left despises about America. I honestly don't remember the last time I found myself booing and hissing at a film as the end credits started rolling.

Saw Avatar this weekend. Fairly entertaining, but the plot was a rip off from the animated movie “FernGully: The Last Rainforest” with an aerial battle at the end. Overall story telling was predictable and it appears that instead Cameron was too absorbed with his Real-3D and computer animation gizmos, rather than trying to get a better script in place (unobtainium? really? come on, that’s not only not putting in effort, it’s a rip off from The Core). The characters (real and anima...ted) were not that captivating, and the “moral” of the story was just cliche liberal drivel.
You're right, you did say ratings.
I'll be truthful with you, I haven't been to a movie in years because of hearing loss in my 30’s. If I watch a movie I watch on TV with caption. I definitely avoid any movie even bordering on porn, so I rate things for myself, lol.
My kids are now grown so ‘ratings’ aren't something I've paid attention to in years either.
If I could hear well I would probably go see this movie for the 3-D special effects. I make graphics and animation so that interests me a lot.
Have YOU seen the movie Yardstick?
Did you read Miloh's post #16? He saw it and didn't see it that way, read his post.
[why did you try to get Moyers show removed? Wouldnt that have deprived other people from seeing it and judging for themselves?]
All of us here on Free Republic were trying to get him removed at the time, and it was Bill Maher. You keep writing Moyers!
Thanks devolve
.
Thanks to you
I haven’t seen the movie, but that doesn’t matter. It’s obvious from the story that it’s a liberal morality tale. There are plenty of movies that wear their politics on their sleeve and Avatar is one of them. Both liberal and conservative reviewers alike have said it has a liberal slant.
Miloh doesn’t see the slant when it’s right there in front of his face. For instance, he doesn’t think Cameron is making a reference to Iraq/Bush when he puts the phrase “shock and awe” in a character’s mouth, but the rest of us know better.
You said earlier that people shouldn’t prejudge but should make up their own minds. How do you square that with your attempt to get Maher off the air? You said that kind of thing was like book burning. But why isn’t it like book burning when you do it? And the fact that other Freepers wanted Maher off the air is no excuse. After all, we should be independent minded, right?

After the discovery of Unobtainium, the United Nations made the mining and use of all fossil fuels illegal. All nations bowed to the global tyranny except the United States, who's population knew the threat of carbon dioxide was a lie. Much friction then ensued.
The United Nations then set the price for Unobtainium, so that all, even the poor could afford it. This made demand far outweigh supply, and soon all Unobtainium on Earth was consumed.
A clone and ruler of Venezuela for 300 years, Hugo de Chavez, decided that it was not fair that the satan USA had energy from fossil fuels so he attacked Miami Florida with an Unobtainium powered submarine. The US quickly Shock and Awed Hugo, sending his last clone to the volcano, Mount Doom. Unfortunately, this is where our hero lost the use of his legs.
The United Nations, who owned all Unobtainum corporations, then started the harvest from nearby solar systems. After all, what good is a 1000% tax on the mineral if there is none to sell. It was then that they discovered Pandora. Using the United Nations controlled media “UUC” to hide the fact that Pandora was a living world, the UN corp then commenced with the mining.
A spy within the UN “Deephack” uncovered this fact and sent word to the Free Republic, and thus Pandora-Gate was born. The USA, the last remaining free country sent a team of scientist to study the Pandorians and to report what the United Nations was truly up to.

There you go. This fits with everything in the movie and is not a spoiler.
Thank you Miloh.
You’re very argumentative and a nitpicker.
