Kristallnacht also known as Night of Broken Glass was an anti-Jewish pogrom in Nazi Germany on November 9th-10th 1938. Kristallnacht was the day Hitler's final solution "came out of the closet" It is viewed by many historians as the beginning of the final solution, leading towards the genocide of the Holocaust

In a coordinated attack on Jewish people and their property, 99 Jews were murdered and 25,000 to 30,000 were arrested and placed in concentration camps. 267 synagogues were destroyed and thousands of homes and businesses were ransacked. This was done by the Hitler Youth, Gestapo, and the SS. Kristallnacht also served as a pretext and a means for the wholesale confiscation of firearms from German Jews. Kristallnacht was part of a broader Nazi policy of antisemitism and persecution of the Jews. Kristallnacht was followed by further economic and political persecutions.

As a history buff, and espicially German history, the Kristalnacht is one of the worst things I could ever experience, even second-hand.

Having spent two years in Germany, within 30 years of the pogroms, it is all very sensitive to me.

There is no doubt that Hitler was Satan’s minion from WWI.

And like the old saying goes” those who forget history are condemned to repeat it”
You read anti Jewish propaganda from Europe all the time. And since that part of the world has increasing Islamic population, you are going to see this happen all over again.
If I were a Jew in Europe, I would move to Israel as soon as I could get the money to go.
It is sad to see so many who hate...and all in the name of what they see as religion.

Thanks, Civ, for reminding us all of this horrible event.

This week is full of commemorations.

ARMISTICE DAY NOVEMBER 11

Remember those who died for Freedom.

A chilling reminder from the past to keep up our guard and protect our freedom.

“Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields”.

Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium

IN FLANDERS FIELDS
The World’s Most Famous WAR MEMORIAL POEM

By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

BTW, The Diary of Anne Frank has been banned in the "Palestinian" territories and existing copies have been burned.

After reading your post, I can only repeat these words from Anne Frank:

“I live in a crazy time.”
