A large trough is in place over the eastern U.S. and will remain so through this weekend allowing for it to be quite cold for this time of year. Temperatures will be averaging between 15 and 25 degrees below normal!

Ooh. Am I the first to say:
Blame Global Warming!!
The colder weather is due to global warming pushing cold air down. The hotter it gets the colder it gets, and if we don’t stop global warming soon, we are going to freeze to death.
They never blame Global Warming, they blame Climate Change.
Looks nice, dale.
The solution is simple. Just buy carbon credits from Al Gore’s companies and the world will be right. Global warming will end. Buy till it hurts.
And next week the weather guys are forecasting high temps in the 60’s again (normal for my area for this time of the year).
Maybe some of you remember the winter of 1976-1977. Where I live (and in many other parts of the country), we dipped below zero for about 2-3 months. I didn’t remember this, but my late mother said the summer before had been cool and damp. We may have a similar scenario this year. It was largely cool and damp around here this summer.
My apologies to those of you who believe in global warming/climate change or whatever the term is now. But I stil think it’s all a hoax. And it’s designed to allow government to control our energy usage and to generate more money for Al Snore and those like him. You know that in the long run, we the taxpayers and consumers are going to pay through the nose...all for a very cleverly designed hoax. Sorry...global warming is a huge piece of krappp.
;) Ain’t ‘science’ grand?

My 23 year old son actually believes this. (When he said it, I fell on the floor laughing!) He also believes that BO is a good president and W helped plan 9/ll.
Sometimes you get a few nuts in the family tree! I’m praying that he comes around. ;)
Penn State has a home football game tomorrow and the University has already announced the closure of all grass parking lots surrounding the stadium and stated that there will be “no tailgating”. They are going to organize shuttles from downtown State College, but I don’t know how they are going to move that many people using Loop Buses. Beaver Stadium holds over 100,000 and I bet there’s paved parking for only a quarter of that.
I should clarify: Penn State is expecting snow tonight.
Much more readable.

I’m sorry this happened to you. I recommend deprogramming before it’s too late?
Interesting. 1976-77 is one of the years i used as reference for this year’s winter outlook
I took a look at your page in which you mentioned the warming and cooling cycles. Around these parts was a venerable meterologist named Joe DeNardo. He is retired now, but he had been on the airwaves for a zillion years and was really trusted. At one point, he was asked about global warming (at the time I think “greenhouse effect” was the more common term). He was very polite, but he basically said that this greenhouse effect stuff was a load of bull. He too mentioned the warm and cool cycles. He said also that it is particularly true around my neck of the woods (western PA). He was right.
1976-1977 was unusually cold, but we also had two more years of extreme amounts of snow and ice. Then in the 1980’s winters warmed up. I still remember a news video of two guys playing golf on New Years Day. It was so warm, some of the flowering plants started to set buds. Then we went back to a cycle of colder than normal winter weather.
Around here, we had two winters (2007-2008 and 2008-2009) which were colder and snowier than normal. My guess is that this winter may be just as bad if not worse. But maybe the following winter will be warm again. That’s life. Seems that a lot of things are cyclical, and this is one of them.
Anyway, thank you for your input. I would trust you and Joe DeNardo over Al Snore and his henchmen any day.
