Is Sarah Palin the “real” Hope for Change?
Mark Epstein ^ | September 5, 2009 | Mark Epstein

Mention Sarah Palin’s name in polite company and you’re sure to ellicit a firestorm of indignation from all sides of the political spectrum. And even though it’s a foregone conclusion that her name is a catalyst for those who support “all that is wrong with the country,” (regardless of political striping), we’ll journey to that dismal land of Palin-bashing and irrationality.

Sarah Palin represents a stereotype to many people. Almost a throwback to the era of Mad Men. However, if there’s an undergirding insanity in the body public, it’s not Sarah’s beliefs, but those who abhor her. Unmistakable among the “Haters of Sarah” is her own political party. A party that has devolved into slow socialism via men like John McCain. Carefully ditching its conservative credentials like a crack addict in the midst of a police Field Interview (FI), the Republicans have consistently sought to distance themselves from Sarah. Included in this duplicitous pandering to the mainstream media are McCain’s handlers; men and women who wouldn’t understand true conservatism if they were locked-up in GITMO for five years and exposed to William Buckley re-runs 24/7.

Even George W. Bush was not immune to slow socialism. However, in those areas where he felt comfortable and immune from scrutiny, Bush instituted some of the most egregious policies, programs, and personnel changes, whose result served to energize the most radical leftist positions. His appointment of a corruptocrat to head the Office of Special Counsel is one example, while Rumsfeld’s National Security Personnel System is yet another. In essence, Bush’s policies at the federal personnel level handcuffed all hopes of real change, enriched managers in the “pay for performance” scam, and radicalized many federal employees.

At this point, Sarah Palin could conceivably run as an Independent and trounce both parties combined. Why? Given the public’s disaffection with Obama’s Pravda (mainstream media) and its loss of viewership combined with crumbling newspapers, Beck and bloggers are rapidly becoming the option for real news “choice.” And the choice is clear: Throw ALL the bums out of Washington.

Absolutely!

Although unfortunate, I considered Palin’s resignation as governor to have sound motives. The numerous frivolous lawsuits the left kept mounting required time away from state business for Palin to defend and deal with them. She reckoned the AK taxpayers deserved ALL of a governor’s time and effort. Although I’m not certain, some of these lawsuits might have involved taxpayer money for her defense as well.

I believe Palin thought first and foremost of her constituents in her decision.

I don’t consider Palin to be either screechy or whiny. The venom that she and her family was exposed to from the left was beyond belief. She handled herself honorably in all cases in what amounted to repeated public career and character rape by the left and media.

I’m doubting you could have done nearly as well as she.

have anyone asked palin if she still support the bailout because its the worst mistake ever

She's started to walk away from her support of the McCain position on TARP, basically saying that Bernanke et al weren't truthful about how it was going to be implemented. I can't find the quote but I know she said it. I'll post it when I find it.

She also blasted the talk of additional bailouts at the RGA conference in November right after the election.

It’s not gonna happen because I’ll be one of the key people working to block it. The best bet for 2012 is Haley Barbour. A successful governor who, as RNC Chair, knows what it takes to build a Congressional majority and also a very talented administrator. Barbour or Bob Riley would be the best bets unless there is some Catholic politician that I don’t know about who’s ready to make a run.

You two’s last two - disappointingly accusatory & puerile, and unworthy of this site. If you disagree, argue. Don’t insult, children. Please.

Same to you three, too - unworthy of this site. If you’ve some thought to express, please do so, but please refrain from clogging up Free Republic with childish insult and accusation. And I dare you to dig up & watch some old Palin interviews - they’re admittedly controlled & edited by the lamestreams, but, still, better be prepared to cringe. For me, Palin in those MSM interviews is almost as hard to watch as some scenes of “The Office.”

Bring it on, big boy! Methinks you're going to be mighty surprised when Sarah sweeps the Iowa caucus and the big GOP primaries in 2012. You and your RINO buddies ain't going to have a say in how the grassroots votes this time!

The best bet for 2012 is Haley Barbour.

Yep, that's the precise prescription needed for defeating Obama---an old, fat, white, male Republican Party hack from Mississippi with the thickest of southern drawls.

BTW...

SOLD DOWN THE RIVER. How Haley Barbour sabotaged eminent domain reform

Take it up with the boss, huckleberry!

If the grassroots TEA Party movement could nominate a candidate for president, who would it be?

I’m a Goldwater Republican. I’m also a Southern gentleman who has a naval jack on my boat and who does not take the comments about the South kindly.

I will also say that I do not like Palin for two reasons beyond anything I’ve said before. First, is a religious reason, namely, the transition from what her birth faith was to what she is now and I have the same gripe with Tim Pawlenty. The problem I have is rooted in my own personal religious beliefs. I’ll vote for her if she’s the nominee but I have to oppose her in the primary

The second. I am not predisposed to vote for any woman who calls herself a feminist who also uses a bombastic campaign style. Call me sexist but that’s just the way there is and there are a lot of people in this country who share that old-fashioned sentiment with me.

Say all you want about Haley Barbour but Haley Barbour is a competent executive and Haley Barbour doesn’t cut and run when under fire like Palin did when she resigned. Look at Haley Barbour’s leadership during Katrina and tell me he is not the man we need at the top of the ticket. And also, after all we Southerners have done for the GOP it’s about damned time we have one at the top (and no, Bush is not a Southerner, he’s from Connecticut)

Thanks for the heads-up VR. Americans will not be ready to elect another Southern governor in 2012. End of story.

Knock yourself out. And if you are really a "key" person how about identifying yourself?
