Secessionist movement under way in Texas

Fiercely independent and thoroughly horrified at the blatantly unconstitutional explosion of federal tyranny into every aspect of our lives, Texans are set to march on the state capitol in droves on Saturday. They will be delivering a million-strong petition to their elected officials based on the 10th Amendment, demanding an immediate constitutional confrontation with Washington.

If they are turned away or their concerns inadequately addressed, organizer Gerry Donaldson says they "will be forced to call for a vote for secession." This will not be the last time a state openly defies Obama's treasonous war on the Constitution.

Donaldson, who runs his own Internet radio show, says they are "calling for an orderly process that will allow our federal government to fall back in line with the Constitution." He continued, "Either we will restore America, we will live in a Marxist dictatorship, or we will secede and start over again."

I will remain loyal to the US until such time, if ever, a duly elected state legislature votes for secession. I will immediately recognize that states sovereignty as an independent nation. That is all I can do.

One state out of 50 leaving is not going to destroy America. We’re hypocrites if we tell the Soviets to respect the breakaway republics of Georgia, Latvia, Estonia, etc. but then tell Texas “no, you can’t leave”.

We can leave without firing a shot if we just get the will to do it. We’ll negotiate a settlement to America’s investment in Texas (military, currency, etc.) and set a date to become independent.

Think of it like a divorce. Or think of it like a corporation divesting one of their stronger assets. I’ve worked for two major companies and both went through break-ups. It’s a little painful but it all works itself out. We just have to lose this mindset that Washington dictates all the terms.

Gah, hit send too soon.

To continue; The collapse is inevitable, really. The writing has been on the wall for almost fifty years now; the only question is when and just how bad is it going to be when it happens?

Texas wishes to have no part in it and wants to undock from the sinking Federal ship before it too is dragged under the waves.

Let us go first and, maybe later, you can join us.

Sorry, you can't throw a party like that and leave out 'ole VA. We'll be there, well at least the Southern half.

Yup, and the Czechs and Slovaks showed us how to do it peacefully, as well. It doesn’t even have to be rancorous - the two countries still trade with each other and back up the other’s military forces.

Even more amusingly, the United Nations does *not* recognize annexation as an instrument of national policy and might find themselves compelled to step in and assist Texas against the US.

But are you prepared for an additional 50 to 70 million people moving to the Republic of Texas in a short period of time?

We have plenty of room for them, as about 30-50 million liberal types will be leaving.

I hope you will consider granting political refugee status to us conservatives from the Blue States who want to immigrate!

I believe you will be required to demonstrate your willingness to keep and bear arms as well as basic firearms proficiency. :D

Figured that out as well. Also the home insurance rates are crazy. Why, I have never been able to figure out. Between the property taxes and home insurance you are about equal to another mortgage payment. Then, not done yet, the utility rates are crazy. Friends in a modest 2000 sq. ft home pay $700 a month electric bill from May thru Sept. It drops a bit after that to the high $200’s the rest of the year. These friends are house poor. They can barely afford to keep living there and can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Also, they are flaming liberals. Our relationship suffers more and more each day.

Strong men will answer the call again, just as they did in 1861.

And if it's like 1861, sorry, unscrupulous and power hungry politicians will be making the call and leading it from the rear. As Oliver P. Temple, a man who personally knew many of the secessionist leaders said:

The most powerful (motivation for secession), as it always has been, in revolutionary movements, was personal ambition. There was something peculiarly fascinating to bold, ambitious men in the thought of forming a great slaveholding confederacy, embracing fifteen states over which they would bear sway; with an aristocratic class to support their authority; with cotton, the greatest wealth-producing staple the world has ever known, as the basis of unparalleled prosperity, and with an obedient, servile race to perform all labor, and minister to the comfort and wants of this superior class as long as governments should last. Of course this motive was concealed...

The belt buckle is EXACTLY like the one I’ve had since the early 1980s! Furled flag of Texas on the left and furled flag of the US on the right. It still wears well!

Every state has the right to secede, if what a Constitution Party member told me is true.

I read your comment as an implication that Texas was annexed by the US. Is that what you meant?

Texas was an independent Republic, as won in the war with Mexico which (by treaty) ceded the lands to Texas that included the current States of Texas, NM, AZ, CA and part of CO. Texas later sold the lands that now are those other States to the US, but the Texas Constitution and agreement to join the USA required that Texas retain property rights to all of its public land.
