(Discussion Thread) Romney's 1994 Debate With Ted Kennedy: Is Romney a 'Real Conservative?'
Conservative Brawler ^ | August 7, 2009 | Conservative Brawler

Posted on 08/07/2009 7:10:59 AM PDT by Seth_Stuck

Someone sent this video to me as a means to saying Romney isn't a "real conservative." I'm curious to see if any of you agree with this analysis, and why. Please post your thoughts directly on the blog in response to this post.

I will add my comments in a later post...

That rarely happens in an online forum like this. It can happen — there are certainly people here who have read enough of what I have written to have some understanding of what I believe.

But a lot of people here have no interest in understanding, or paying attention to what is being said. Instead, they will read a thread, and if they don’t understand what is being said, or if what is said doesn’t fit their particular preconcieved notion of what a “conservative” is, they don’t seem to know how to argue other than to use buzzwords to dismiss the person who has posted.

Most people simply don’t care to pay attention to what people post. Even I don’t care that much to follow a person’s posting history. That works for me because I also don’t look to make personal attacks based on what people post — I’m reading what is written and commenting on the ideas, not trying to score points by calling people names.

There are only a few people on the site that I actually recognise by their names enough to feel that I am responding “personally”, rather than simply adding my comments to other random comments.

There are threads where people act more personably to one another, and certainly other freepers treat this more as a community where they deal with one another on a personal level.

In the end, while serious people could easily determine the truth by looking through people’s posts, most people won’t bother. I did have one poster, I can’t remember who, actually attack me for not having posted enough individual threads, and for having a majority of my comments on the “24 live” thread.

I don’t even know how you would respond logically to that sort of argument. I don’t think it is meant to BE a logical argument. It certainly isn’t a discussion of ideas or philosophy.

Anyway, my point wasn’t that people can’t get to know you — it’s that you shouldn’t look for validation from anonymous posters on the internet, nor should you waste time arguing with people over what YOU really believe, because of the two people, one actually KNOWS what you believe, and the other is pretending to be a mind-reader.

Don't you get tired of being so miserable? Clearly, you've grown a strong hatred for Free Republic and everything it stands for. You sure aren't having any fun.

See, this is exactly what I was trying to explain in my previous post. Reagan Man fancies himself a psychic, able to read minds; he is very bad at it, but that doesn't stop him from projecting. Every one of his three speculations is dead wrong, and he certainly has no shame about posting ignorant statements about things he knows nothing about.

But, his statements are all about a person he knows nothing about -- not about conservatism, or saving our country, or how to win back control of congress or the white house, or to stop Obama and the democrats from implementing their wrong-headed ideas.

I presume that somewhere in FR, Reagan Man actually does occastionally post conservative views, because why else would he be here. But he never pings me to those topics, only to cases where he is playing a fool. I don't think he is actually a fool, but that's the image he projects. I can't imagine why -- it appears he thinks he is "getting" me somehow, but as I said, I could care less what RM thinks about me, as he obviously doesn't have a clue what he is talking about.

I think people look more intelligent when they stick to topics they know. And it is a rare time when any anonymous poster actually KNOWS anything about how someone they have never met is thinking.

You are not a happy camper at all and as clueless as ever.

Like I've told you before, you make yourself the issue with off the wall comments that make you look foolish and don't advance conservatism. Also, time and again, you revert to making dumb posts that attack FReepers and refer to them as, Romney haters. Did I make that up? No, of course not. Here are some examples of those anti-FReeper posts from you and properly linked.

"AJ does correctly note the tendency of the loud-mouth conservatives to trash good people for no good reason. You see it here at FR all the time. Replies from you that not only bash Freepers, but hope for Obama's success. Lets not forget your endless comments about that liberal TV show on Fox, called "24". Starring that stellar liberal a-hole and rotten actor, Keifer Sutherland.

This thread is very interesting: ROMNEY: Cautionary tale of card check. You should remember it well. You make reference to it in RE:#301 on this very thread:

"I did have one poster, I can’t remember who, actually attack me for not having posted enough individual threads, and for having a majority of my comments on the “24 live” thread.

Your problem is, you don't know how to debate politics. You're a moderate (at best), who likes to post BS to ad nauseam. While you choose to defend liberals like Mitt Romney. You remain obsessive and compulsive, with a desperate personality. You're twisted! LOL

Why thank you, CharlesWayneCT, for taking time from
polishing Romney's knob to try to correct my English.

But, at the end of the day, you are illogical, only creating fugue for your Master "Myth".

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”

- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”
[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."

RomneyBOT propagandist: "In fact, it was the Romney haters who gave us McCain..."
~~~ CharlesWayneCT
It was Team Romney who gave us the attacks on Trig and Gov. Palin,
and who (with their evil backstabbing) gave us Obama.
Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers, some of whom are currently working for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin's bid for the White House,
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide, now working for McCain-Palin.
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
He's in charge on November 5th.'"
The Prowler added: "Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."
The Romney supporters in the McCain campaign had access to internal polling which indicated well in advance of the November 4 election that McCain had no chance to win.
So they began working to position their man Mitt for a run in 2012. Just two days after the election,The Palmetto Scoop reported:
"One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
These aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
Erick Erickson, who organized Operation Leper, said:
"Here’s what I think: I think there are some staffers on the McCain campaign who seriously screwed up the roll out of Sarah Palin, to which Governor Palin herself objected.
These staffers are now out trying to finish her off thinking, as typical D.C. types do, that if they don’t do it to her, she’ll do it to them. They just never understood who Palin is or what she is about."
"Likewise, I do think there are some staffers and others who expect Mitt Romney to run again in 2012,
they decided McCain could not win, and decided to undermine Sarah Palin and her chances hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."
"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign? (Mark Wallace, Romney pimp)
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."
Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney
Even I don’t care that much to follow a person’s posting history.
There are folks that do not seem to care about a certain religious organization's history as well...
