Here is a brief video report on the August 2, 1990 Iraq invasion of neighboring Kuwait, 19 years ago today. Iraq invaded using over 100,000 troops and 700 tanks. The invasion led to the First Gulf War in which a coalition of nations - led by the United States - drove Iraq out of Kuwait.
Below is part of a speech by President George H.W. Bush to a Joint Session of Congress on September 11, 1990, in which he demanded that Iraq withdraw immediately and unconditionally from Kuwait. . . . . .

Never realized that date had a significant event in 1990.
Wonder if there was any evidence this date affected al Qaeda’s 9-11 planners. I do remember reading they had postponed their attack from an August date?

I noticed the 9-11 date too. 9-11 has so many strange coincidences....
