I agree with an earlier poster ... the deadline on this ENTIRE bunch should be no later than tomorrow. Lock and load em all. They are all pretty much worthless in my view. Gasbags, morons and ......... I’ll let you fill in the following blanks before I get banned.

As I recall, the 1994 Contract For America called for congressional term limits, but for some reason, I have no idea what it could be, once they GOP gained control of Congress, they did not pursue Term Limits.

Absolutely yes, Senators should get 2 full terms (12 years) and House Members get the same 6 terms (12 years) in a lifetime. That’s it, and if you run for another office such as Governor or President you forfeit your current position when you file the paperwork to run.

They held a vote but it failed a simple majority let alone the 2/3 vote it needed.

Well darn, even with a majority in Congress, the Republicans could not muster 50.1% for term limits.

There should be term limits, but you have to amend the Constitution for that.

If you put term limits on Congress, you’ll have to put similar limits on the Congressional Staff that supports the Congress critters, else the Staffers will be the real power because they will be the ones with more experience in running things than the “newbie” Congress critters, who will turn to the Staffers because of their experience.

We MUST find a way to FORCE these bastards to have term limits. If we don’t we will be seeing a new American born and bred aristocracy ruling us.

Not only term limits, the retirement package needs to be brought down to earth as well. Congress should not be a path to extreme wealth.

Limit the number of days they are allowed to be in session. The fewer days they are there the less damage they can do. Or how about they meet every other year. We would have a full congress free year. Ahhh just think a whole year with no congress.

They should have NO retirement package - NONE NADA.

Its NOT a job or a career - its an elected office which needs a term limit.

We have a winner!

No more than two four year terms in either house and you go home without a retirement package.

Meetings shall occur only once in each year, not to exceede three weeks in length. No special sessions either!

The need is to end all elections and choose all formerly elected (or appointed) govt positions via random lottery, ala jury duty.

Thus replacing the current corrupt and incompetent govt with one merely incompetent.

Sunshine,
Do you bring joy and cheer to every thread you read or just mine? I’m so honored.

I support continued elections every two years, along with a 3 month term limit.

I would rather see an attorney limit. Since practicing lawyers are technically officers of the court, they are, IMHO, part of the judicial branch and their participation in the legislature is an extreme conflict of interest. I suggest a “five year waiting period” between the time one resigns from the bar and the time one becomes eligible to run for congress.
