Needless to say, it was a surprise to everyone outside her inner circle when Sarah Palin announced yesterday that she would resign as Alaskas governor by the end of July. Many of her staunchest, new-media allies are declaring this the beginning of the 2012 presidential election and celebrating the idea that she can now spend more time in the lower 48.
This could be true. After all, Mike Huckabee has already been spending lewd amounts of time in Iowa, a location that the acting governor of Alaska is hard-pressed to excuse herself to. Now, she could even uproot her family and move the Palin Winnebago there if she wanted to. The problem is that Sarah Palin seems to have little interest in continuing the fight. Nominally declared the most dangerous politician to liberal ambition, she and her family have endured a constant onslaught of vile attacks. Who among us wouldnt have given in to the urge to exit long ago?
The problem is not, as the Democrats are arguing, that it is a bizarre move to resign from one position to campaign for another. That happens all the time. The problem, rather, is her explanation of why she is quitting.

When it comes to “bizarre”, nothing tops Baracko Hussein Obama being “elected” president of this country. Now THAT’S BIZZARE.
Sometimes I wonder if anyone can understand plain English. Palin's move makes perfect sense if you understand what she was saying, but apparently the media wants to read their own agenda into her statement.
LOLOL! In HIS favorite dream...
Okay, nevermind all that. Check out my favorite paragraph from the philandering article:
“Philandering is usually an essential part of the package for successful politicians. If I tried to make a list of them all as proof, Id die of old age at my computer before finishing even a small fraction (and I am scandalously young, so far as you know). That doesnt make philandering right, simply to be expected: lying, broken promises, bumping uglies, etc. As a nation, we realize that we cant expect simple moral decency from most politicians, so we just look the other way and go on. After all, deep down, we realize that if it werent for congressional bodies, both national and local, that we would just have thousands more white collar criminals filling our prisons. So when you are in a bathroom at the airport and find that your representative is peering at you with love in his eyes from under the stall, you should just laugh it off and give him a good kick.”
I think she’ll engineer a 2010 conservative come back in the house and Senate like Newts 1994 “Contract With America” and then proceed to kick tail in the 2012 Presidential election.
It is not like we have an abundance of conservatives that could pull this off, but she could.
I know, it was just a week ago, the media was gushing with joy that the GOP/conservatives have no voice. Are they that stupid not to see Palin could be that voice?
I hope you are right, particularly regarding the midterms. Those elections are absolutely critical, though 2 years too late.
You stated my exact thoughts. I’ll work and vote for her to succeed.
Unfortunately politicians are not candid. She may have been caught on film engaged in some secret vice. No matter what her words, she is a politician.
I wonder if this move will allow her children to sue the perpetrators if they continue to be slandered and libeled after Mom is no longer Governor.
