Democrats want to exempt only union health benefits from tax
June 12, 2009

Quoting Kimberly Strassel in the Wall Street Journal "Democrats and the Health Tax Taboo":

"Mr. Baucus officially floated his plans for a tax this week, only with a surprising twist: His levy will not apply to union plans, at least for the duration of existing contracts. In other words, Mr. Baucus intends to tax the health-care benefits only of those who didn't spend a fortune electing Democrats to office. Sen. Ted Kennedy, who is circulating his own health-care reform, has also included provisions that will exempt unions from certain provisions.

The union carve-out is designed to allay the fears of many Democrats who remain outright hostile to a tax on health-care benefits, whether out of principle, political fear or union solidarity. Much will depend on the union reaction, which might remain ugly."

This would be outrageous. Republicans need to scream about this. The health benefits provided to GM workers by my tax dollars (through "loans" that will never be repaid) would not be taxed, but the benefits provided to me by my employer would be?

What a shock. The unions (and any of their members who accept such a “benefit”) are a cancer in this country...disgusting. Traitors, just like their bought-and-paid-for b*tches in the United States Congress.

There is nothing surprising about it. Welcome to the age of Obama.

And almost certainly unconstitutional. They should call this tax the “jizya.”

Not just a big treat for the current unions, but it would push other employees to form unions to get their benefits tax free.

It's definitely a special deal for UAW. Other unions don't fare as well, nor will disabled veterans, federal government employees, state employees, welfare recipients, medical research organizations, public hospitals, etc.

As usual the Democrat financing plan for expanding "insurance" (can't call it "health care insurance" 'cause it has nothing to do with "health care") will consolidate all federal payments related to medical costs into a single pool.

Those payments will then be distributed among a larger body of recipients.

I suspect the way it will be laid down to federal employees is that "due to savings available by consolidating federal payments for medical services, your employer contribution of 75% can now be reduced to 50% of the previous costs. Your personal contribution of 25% will remain unchanged."

Fascism -- the government does not necessarily own the means of production, but uses tax and regulatory policy to reward those businesses and labor institutions which support national political efforts. And uses tax and regulatory policies to punish those businesses and labor institutions which oppose national political efforts.

The Corporate State refers to a "body" (corpus) in which all economic, social and political parts of the national system work together for a common purpose, a purpose which is outlined by a charismatic political leader.

If the Constitution is used for toilet paper by Hussein and his minions in government, laws no longer apply.

First, republicans/conservatives MUST stop playing around and make ourselves heard. We cannot keep sitting back and letting the liberals walk all over us.

Second, if they pass that mess about having open elections when it comes to unions, we’re all screwed. Secret ballots are the only thing that keeps us from being “punished” by employers and unions alike.
