It would put to shame the BS/crap many of us that go out the wire each and every day and we don’t get the purple heart for all these injuries that build up thoughout our tour due to the very nature of our daily grind of combat responsibilities..so, no.

So, they were not military under fire from an enemy combatant? The question is not whether or not someone else was eligible...were they under fire from an enemy combatant or were they just two guys shot by a disgruntled passerby?
They were murdered/wounded by a civilian in the US. They will not receive the purple heart. Even if this had happened a year ago, there would not have been a purple heart. It simply doesn’t meet DOD criteria.
No, there is a differance. They are not in a hostile environment. The Pentagon should, they were deliberately targeted by AQueda. That idiot who killed the one soldier did it as not part of the OBL War against the US. He was an idiot that is a loser and did it out of shear desperation so he can feel like he “belongs” to a group somehow..unfortunately, its AQueda, but he doesn’t.

I am not sure that you are right about that ma bell. Those two soldiers were killed by a guy who was recruited to Jihad and trained in terrorism in Yemen. He came back to the US with the express purpose of attacking the US military and Jewish targets as well.
He has a Somali passport, yet had never been to Somalia and was born and raised in the USA.
He was clearly part of some Jihadist apparatus or network. He didn’t get to Yemen on his own. He was recruited and told that was where he needed to go to get training. And someone got him a fake passport. He didn’t make it in his dorm room at Tennessee State.
This war is not just against OBL or even Al Qaeda. Hell, we killed and captured Hezbollah operatives in Iraq after all.
The fact that the perp was a US citizen should not be relevant to whether those two soldiers get Purple Hearts. Just as the servicemen and women who were killed/wounded at the Pentagon on September 11th got Purple Hearts, those two soldiers should get Purple Hearts.
They don't deserve anything like a PH, end of story.

Where did I say that? I stand by my opinion. You have yours. I won’t resort to name calling...but you have know idea who you are talking to or how they have served or what they know...when you shoot your mouth off at people calling them idiots, try to remember a difference of opinion is just that...
Keep in mind that they were at a U.S. Army recruiting center. They were deliberately targeted by an enemy operative because they were U.S. Army. If not the Purple Heart, the DOD or Congress should create something special and dignified for non-combat deaths at the hands of the enemy. Treating this the same as if he had been killed while on leave in a car accident or something isn’t right. This was a U.S. soldier, at a U.S. Army facility that was shot by a person who joined up with sworn enemies of the U.S. and who received foreign training for the purpose of making war on the USA.
Nope..they don't. it devalues the PH. They are not in a hostile country. They were not part of an orchestrated attack. This was one ignorant idiot with no direction in life that wnted to 'belong'. Just because this moron travels to those locations, does not imply he was sent back here on a mission. alot of those people that go to those jihad camps are inept morons that couldn't be trusted to load a magazine properly.
