Is American pop and political culture shifting toward a more traditional view of sex and gender? Don't ask me the difference between the two as only sociologists understand the mysterious jargon which they have invented.
California's infamous Proposition 8 which sought to legitimize gay marriage last year was soundly defeated, and was an extraordinary defeat for homosexuals because it was CALIFORNIA, the land of "fruits and nuts" as my Marine sergeant explained back in Camp Pendleton. He also advised staying out of Tijuana.
In Miss California vs. Perez Hilton et al. (et al. consists of every person in Hollywood and the MSM)the lovely Miss Prejean easily dispatched the equally unlovely Perez Hilton by just being nice, and honest, something which is quite disgusting to Hollywood and the MSM.
Kris Allen, Christian hetero, won against Adam Lambert, not a hetero, in American Idol's runoff. They are both superb singers, but I would think that Adam Lambert, self admitted nonhetero, hurt his performance by vamping it up a bit too much with the black leather, black angel's wings, black mascara, and black fingernail motif.
Nonhetero Adam even had the vocal support of the more gay-looking Simon Cowell who unbelievably asked viewers to "vote for Adam in the next week's finale."
As much as the media culture attempts to ramrod (excuse the pun) the gay culture down our throats, America is not ready for special rights, including Hate Crimes laws, to dominate everything we do and think. Sorry, Hollywood. Sorry, Mainstream Media. Sorry, Simon.
I just heard a school principal describe on a moderate radio talk show that, 'One of the worse things to call a classmate, and start a fight in school, is to call someone a Gaybo. I hate to admit my naivete, but I am not sure what Gaybo means.
I do know that out of 100 million votes cast last night, about 99 million votes* were cast by teens and tweens who are not big on gaybos.
I do not want to see homosexuals suffer any more than they do (although, it seems a lot of them are riding high socially and economically), but America clearly is not infautated with any group which distinguishes itself by its sexual practices.
Neither do Americans have a hankering for singers dressed in black leather, black fingernails, black mascara, and black angel wings mounted on their shoulders, especially if they are male.
*99 Million is a very bad guess on my part
What leads you to make unfounded assumptions about Adam’s sexuality?
He is the better singer, while Kris is a more complete musician.
Kris won because he is more mainstream. I think Adam is glad he came in second, because it is just as good as winning for his career, but he won’t be confined to a contract with Clive Davis. He’s free to negotiate a better contract where he can retain creative control.
Oh please, he’s come as close as is possible to saying he was gay without saying he was gay. Go to youtube and listen to this interview with Lambert. His favorite things to do, other than sing, is “dressing up and shopping.” He talks about unabashedly being who he is and not being afraid to be who he is.

But the main point is, American Idol has never been a singing contest. It’s a popularity contest just like the other “phone in vote” shows. I think Adam was the better singer, however the author’s poitn is well made, he was not the most popular. And that could have been because he did tend to be “over the top” in making a statement. Either that or the public may have rebeled against the judges and voted for the underdog. Their blantant “pushing” of Adam could have backfired.
All that means is he’s an emo kid.
That’s far from being a verdict on whether or not he is attracted to males or females.
The pictures on the web of him frenching several different guys could be a clue.
Ok, maybe Adam is a covert hetero, vamping it up so that he might get the judges’ (obviously pro homosexual agenda)vote.
But, that makes him sneaky, and the dress-up just a bit too sleazy in order to wow the judges.
I admit he may be just super “metrosexual,” but why look so gay if it “does not matter.” It matters a lot to him and to those who view him. If you go out of your way to look gay, don’t be surprised if you are perceived (by teens and tweens) as gay.
He definitely wanted the androgenous look going for him, but it did not work.
I thought Simon was going to cry, when Adam lost!
Adam being gay isn’t why he lost. How stupid.
Ok, this settles it for me. Website “Vote For Worse Picture Of Adam Making Out With A Guy.” Not Porno.

I LOVE Adam, but I also have no doubt he’s gay. Seen many pics of him slobbering in guy’s mouths.
There were pictures of Adam and his “boyfriend” on his facebook page. He took them down, but not before one of the spoiler sites found them.
American Idol fans tend to vote for the clean cut girl/guy next door. Adam is a bit flamboyant for them, part of that is because of his sexuality.
I agree with what you’re saying here.
Also there is the fact that Danny’s supporters probably broke for Kris, and the mathematically undeniable fact that Idol is rigged, at least the final showdown.
Due to the limited number of lines and the unlimited numbers of “votes” fans can cast, there is no doubt both contestants’ phonebanks will always be saturated from the moment voting begins until the moment it ends. This guarantees a statistical tie. Plus the fact that people can “vote” as many times as they want (100,000,000 votes recorded? Hello!) renders the poll completely unscientific and the final tally a total sham.
However, back to the issue of Adam’s sexual preference, I don’t see how this has any bearing on who is more talented. And since he is not pushing any political agenda one way or another, I don’t see why it should matter.
Metrosexual = flaming closet queen.
I still don’t know if he is gay. He could just as well be a goth or a devout wiccan.
It doesn’t matter as far as his ultimate success or failure...it does matter when it is, a popularity contest, and the singer with the most appeal is the one who wins...not necessarily the best singer.
IMHO, the Lambert kid stayed on the edge, in many ways, and the judges loved it. He has a whole other side (his Broadway side) and his broadway performances that I’ve heard on youtube are amazing, but he chose not to go anywhere near there (his Ring of Fire performance showed he was not going to go traditional in any way, shape, or form), and he stayed “edgy”...but all-American won out over edgy,at least in this go.
Just like when Emmitt Smith won that dancing contest...was he the best dancer, probably not, but he was the most popular.
I think Adam lost because of his over-the-top musical style, but that ain’t no Goth or Wiccan.
I think you might be right.
Self-anointed celebrity: Perez Hilton?
Another recent reality-type contest: Miss USA?
How to Upset the Outcome of a Reality Show
BlindGossip - Which reality show outcome may be pinned on the actions of someone completely unaffiliated with the contest? The producers were well aware of the controversy generated by a certain self-anointed celebrity on another recent reality-type contest. They were concerned that if the same celebrity got too vocal about one of their finalists, it might actually result in a public backlash against their favorite. The producers even spent a few minutes of a meeting discussing strategies as to how to incentivize the celebrity to keep quiet in the final weeks of the contest. They eventually decided that they were better off not adding any more fuel to the egoists fire.
Adam was a professional before AI, and he’ll be one on a larger stage now. I’m sure there’s both concert tours and Broadway in his future, but he may also be destined to be the next Liberace/Wayne Newton and play Vegas for 30 years.
