My Belated Response to Peggy Noonan
Conservatives4Palin ^ | 05-02-09 | R. A. Mansour

Out of all the conservative betrayals in the last election, none broke my heart more than Peggy Noonan's. I've loved her writing for years. I grew up hearing the wonderful speeches she wrote for Reagan. Her political memoir, "What I Saw At The Revolution," is still my favorite of its kind.

I agree with a lot of what she says in her latest article, but I still wonder why she feels so dismissive of Joe-Six Packs and Hockey Moms. I don't think you can grow a party by dissing ordinary people the way she did during the last election.

Noonan is an elitist wannabe. When they are finished using her she’ll have no where to go.

Great post.
Thanks.

I am also a recovering Noonan fan.

Noonan, I guess, is a closet elitist.

Noonan likes elitists who can “connect” with the unwashed masses, and I guess that is what she thinks Reagan did -—

Noonan admires the connection Reagan had with the public, BUT, Noonan seems to require that our leaders meet her snob oriented litmus tests before she will support a good Republican.

I don't know. I thought I understood Noonan. She wrote in such a way as to convey her understanding of grass roots America.

How she got the Palin thing so wrong is depressing.

Maybe Noonan knew that nobody would care about a female pundant, with a Female VP we could listen to, instead?

Was this juvenile catty behavior?

I don't get it, and it did break my heart, as well.

Noonan claims to have been a blood loyal Reaganite and she did write some good stuff for him. But it didn't stop her later, when she wrote for GHW Bush, from slapping Reagan's accomplishments in the face by giving Bush the words "kinder gentler nation" to distinguish his agenda from that mean old Reagan.

Noonan is a whore and she does what whores do.

I second your opinion. Couldn’t have wrote it better myself.

She’s always repulsed me......Using Reagan’s legacy to reflect on her own importance with her sickening smarmy affectations. As mentioned above.....a WHORE.

Ever notice how the Bushies both took a slap at conservatives, with the “kindler, gentler” crap and also with the “compassionate conservative” hogwash? No wonder both of them left the GOP in shambles upon their departure.

Noonan is a girl from East Rutherford High School in the swamps Jersey calls the Meadowlands. She went to Farleigh Dickinson, Madison, as distinguished from FDU Rutherford or FDU Madison. She affects the accent of Bill Buckley and the airs of Gore Vidal. She is a talented writer but more and more she is a modern female Jay Gatsby. An outsider who longs to live the life of the elite. Her acceptance in that world now depends upon her joining the party for Obama. Truly sad.

Indeed. I used to love Peggy Noonan. But her behavior during the last election makes me wonder had she been replaced by a pod person. Slobbering all over a candidate who’s to the left of George McGovern makes no sense for an alleged anti-Communist pro-life JFK Democrat Catholic turned Reagan Conservative.

Peggy went native among the predominantly liberal New York elites where she lives. Got to be like there, ya unnestan?

When somebody says that they are too good to be my friend, I don’t necessarily believe them, but I am pretty confident that the friendship is over, one way or the other.

Palin only represents, if anything, a subsection of “ordinary people.” Where I live, “ordinary people” are not fundamentalist protestants and don’t whine and bitch about “elitists” like they are the second coming of William Jennings Bryant. They also, for the most part, don’t let their daughters get knocked up (outside of the ghetto dwellers who we keep at arms length).
