Proving the old adage that instead of sitting quietly letting everyone think you are an idiot one should speak up and prove it, funnyman John Cleese and Kung Fu action star Jackie Chan recently did some talking that they should probably have avoided. Apparently unaware that they've left office, Cleese unloaded on George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and seemed to say U.S. Marines weren't very sophisticated at a recent visit to Cornell University. For his part, Jackie Chan announced to the world that Chinese people "needed controlling" because all that darn democracy is just too "chaotic" for them. One wonders where Jackie thinks all his many millions of dollars have come from: communism or democracy?
Chan's comments were so ridiculous that even the communist Chinese government thought they were foolish enough to denounce in the Chinese press...

That’s depressing, I liked Chan’s movies...
In Chan’s defense, have you ever watched the Chinese drive?
Chan is right, Democracy is chaotic, as it is nothing more than mob rule where 51% can violate the rights of the other 49%.
That is why we have a republic, democratically elected, but NOT a full Democracy.
See posts 4 and 5.
Entertain me .. then STFU
Jackie Chan is right about democracy being too chaotic. Educate the masses folks, we have a REPUBLIC form of Govt here. The leftys are trying to turn us into a democracy, which is a fancy name for MOB RULE! Here is a video that should help educate anyone who thinks the US is a democracy!
The video is a description of the 5 supposed forms of government, from 100% government control (Communism, fascism, totalitarianism etc) to 0% government (anarchy) it obliterates all forms of government as only temporary and futile except for 2, oligarchy and republic. It does this in a clear concise manner, which effectively shows even a grade schooler about them. It then, in the last few moments, explains Rome, its beginning as a republic, and its morph into a democracy. The parallels are well put, and clearly where this country is today. It is an excellent way to spread the word to those who have never been taught proper history, and that is alot of people since they have been re writing it for so long now.
I have been posting this sucker all over all day, and sometimes I forget that some are stuck at work, so I have included the above basic description of the video, however it does not do the video justice. I beg, implore and urge all to view it who have not. THIS is the reason we are so angry. Taxes are a symptom, losing our republic is the disease!!!!!

Cleese hasn’t been funny since Python and Fawtly Towers.
Hollywood needs to STFU.
Good video. The topic is also explained well in The 5000 Year Leap.
“That is why we have a republic, democratically elected, but NOT a full Democracy.”
Unfortunately, a republic depends on the basic decency and integrity of those who are elected. Our elected officials have little or none of either quality, hence the problems of America today.
Democracy IS too chaotic. That is why we are a Republic.
Should have read down before I posted.

Some are born to be slaves.
Great video.
I submit we have already substantially transitioned to an oligarchy.
Yes it is, unfortunately, those we are trying to reach are ADD, and will not read a whole book with no pictures LOL. Thats why I keep posting this video. Its for the intellegently challengend, as well as a great tool for parents to show their kids in 10 minutes what it takes a civics or american govt student a long time to learn, and with todays teachers, they are not being taught! Thanks for viewing!
I agree, unfortunately.
Grrrrrr ping
Good point, but I suspect Chan was freely interchanging the word democracy for republic the way most libs do. Perhaps he just needs to clarify though.
Funny, I go for the books with the pictures myself. ;)
