And she's set the blogosphere on fire and fans a-Twittering. When a dowdy, homely, 47-year-old woman sings beautifully, it is headline news, Tamar Abrams blogs in a Huffington Post article headlined Susan Boyle: Talent Without Judgment.

Just one of the many videos posted on the internet :

I don’t find it amazing that she has talent, even if she doesn’t look like some Barbie doll. What I find amazing is that she is SO talented, and I am happy she is getting her chance to shine.
And so is that God given talent coming from her. Have you listened to her rendition of ‘Cry Me A River’ recordeda couple of years ago? This Lady is a huge talented voice dragging around a body. Are you jealous?
That sounds painful!
Incredible!! never judge a book by its cover.. Susan just proved that! Not only does she have a superior voice, but she can hit every note with ease and not force it. And, she does not try all of the voice gymnastics that many modern-day singers use to try to enhnace their performance (like Mariah Carey)—she does not need to. I will bet that all the recording executives are lining up at her door—if not, they surely should be. I have probably viewed her performance 20+ times and never get tired of it.
A voice like an angel!
Anyone who delivers such a withering smackdown to Cowell’s chronic snobbery deserves my applause.
She brings tears to these old eyes every time I listen to her on either of the songs she has presented.
I don’t like and don’t watch the whole “Idol” thing, but this video brought a tear to the eye. Not just for the woman and her amazing voice, but for the powerful way it reminded me of the lesson we all learned at a young age but often forget - “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. It seemed pretty obvious the judges got that same reminder, too.
Britain’s got talent produces as lot of surprising talent. People who we would never hear about had they not been given a chance to show the world their talent.
Susan Boyle is the second obscure singing talent that has blessed us. 13 year old Andrew Johnstone was the first ( last year ). See his surprising audition here :

I wonder how young Andrew would sound like 10 years from now...
You are so very right....she is a gem, a diamond that with just a wee bit of polish is going to shine her light for all of us lucky ones to hear.
But even now her spirit is shining, and she has so much to teach us.
