I have been reading some discussion regarding guns and ammunition recently and as a lady have always had trouble with a shotgun or rifle due to the length of the barrel. I can use it, but sometimes uncomfortable or not able to aim quickly due to the weight or size.
I went to Walmart today and there is a nice rifle there made by Rossi that is $147. It has an interchangable barrel between a .22 or a .410. So if they are out of one type of ammo, you can go with the other if necessary.
Also, the barrel is short and the gun itself is very lightweight.
So I thought I'd share.

Those are fine combo firearms and great fun. Very verstatile and, as you say, you have two choices of ammo. A good choice.

That is a great camping/survival rifle. The single shot .410 is kind of limiting in a close encounter though, make sure to shoot for the eyes then use the gun like a club.
A pump action .20 gauge Mossberg would be to your liking for home defense. Just remember, you can never have too many guns!

If you are not going to get a pistol or revolver (usually best for a lady), then go with the shotgun. You have a far higher chance of hitting something you are aiming at. Also, if you shoot it, it makes a LOT of NOISE, FIRE and SMOKE, sometimes that is a great deterrent if you aren't a good shot. But above all, once you have it, look for someone to teach you S A F E T Y ! ! ! How to use it, how NOT to use it. Someone close by will be glad to help you and will probably look forward to giving you the safety lesson. (We'll see what the other guys have to say).

Yeah, thats my next purchase. Working on my permit right now.
My understanding is that the Kahr's are quite good pistols, although I've never shot one. Recoil on 9mm pistols is more manageable, even in a smaller concealed carry piece. If 9mm is uncomfortable, then look into a 380 ACP pistol. It's a bit less than 9mm on power, and thus less recoil. I would not go less than 380 for any defensive firearm due to stopping power issues.

$147.00 is very reasonable don’t you think? My hubby will probably let me get one; I’ve been working on him. Nagging does eventually work. Hee hee
