My 11 year old stepson killed a 3 point with that same model this past deer season.

Those are fine combo firearms and great fun. Very verstatile and, as you say, you have two choices of ammo. A good choice.

That is a great camping/survival rifle. The single shot .410 is kind of limiting in a close encounter though, make sure to shoot for the eyes then use the gun like a club.
A pump action .20 gauge Mossberg would be to your liking for home defense. Just remember, you can never have too many guns!

If you are not going to get a pistol or revolver (usually best for a lady), then go with the shotgun. You have a far higher chance of hitting something you are aiming at. Also, if you shoot it, it makes a LOT of NOISE, FIRE and SMOKE, sometimes that is a great deterrent if you aren't a good shot. But above all, once you have it, look for someone to teach you S A F E T Y ! ! ! How to use it, how NOT to use it. Someone close by will be glad to help you and will probably look forward to giving you the safety lesson. (We'll see what the other guys have to say).

$147.00 is very reasonable don’t you think? My hubby will probably let me get one; I’ve been working on him. Nagging does eventually work. Hee hee

Safety first.
1)Always assume gun is loaded.
2)Never point it at anything you don't intend to shoot.
3)Never put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot.
4)With rights come responsibilities.

A gun post?
You’ll never get a response to a gun post here on FR.
Nope. No way, no how.
Folks around here just don’t seem to be interested in guns, that’s what I’ve noticed.

I appreciate the information. I, too, have always found my husband’s rifles to hard to handle. I am on my way to Walmart.
