There is a chance I'll be speaking at a conference in LV this September. I was asked (by a sponsoring organization that I have some relationship with) to come up with a list of potential speakers and topics and I sent one -- but left my own availability up in the air while I compile some new material to see if I have anything useful.

My old talk is getting difficult because it relied heavily on an energy situation that is no longer very stable and could go in a number of directions; it's time for a massive overhaul.

Yup. Wish I were further on the prep though. I have a number of standards to read through and unfortunately the first (and grand-daddy of all the others) I have only in print, so from that one I have to type in the material of interest. Tedious... but it looks like I’m close to done.

Yes and yes! This part of the task is drudgery, but a necessary first step. So, that time flies while I'm doing it...

The next is going to be how to compile all this into an interesting talk. The subject material is only about 8 slides at present -- I need about 6 times as much in the end.

Took me a while to get back because I had to diagnose and fix our Internet connection.

Still don't know what happened but something went haywire last night/this morning. LoM called the DSL provider and they got her computer going (with a faster connection -- they don't even offer the slowest-speed option we'd chosen anymore), but the house net was completely offline.
