Very interesting and very civil discussion about race, Obama, Eric Holder, and the ape cartoon called:
"Abominations, Cartoons, and Cowards"
Detail:
Glenn calls Johns NAACP piece an abomination (03:52)
Johns ideas for reforming the NAACP (07:02)
Glenns memories of attending the Million Man March (02:28)
Was that NY Post cartoon racist? (07:45)
Prince Harry and the policing of discourse (03:06)
Are we really a nation of cowards on race? (08:41)

John McWhorter, professor, best selling author and Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, is the more conservative.
He earned his PhD in linguistics from Stanford University in 1993 and became Associate Professor of Linguistics at UC Berkeley after teaching at Cornell University.
He really deeply wanted Obama to be president for what it represents to the inspiration of black children.

Glenn Loury is Merton P. Stoltz Professor of the Social Sciences and Professor of Economics at Brown University. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics (Northwestern University) and a Ph.D. in Economics (MIT).
He's more the liberal, and wanted Clinton to win.
They're both very interesting (at least to me) to listen to and watch.

McWhorter's brilliant and unique (and I think quite quirky). In addition to being an expert on linguistics and an author on music and race issues, he's a huge fan of Broadway show music, is a pianist who puts on a 1-man recital once a year, and, of course, writes on the current scene.
You can watch the very in-depth feature that Book TV did on him H E R E .. which is where I first learned of him.
Thanks.
Welcome ........ ;)
