I Support The Fairness Doctrine

As each days passes it seems like more and more liberals come out in favor of the Fairness Doctrine. Bill Clinton is the latest example. He told Politico there needs to be, "more balance in the programs or have some opportunity for people to offer countervailing opinions." Initially as a conservative I was against this idea, but I have been caught up recently in the hope, change, and bipartisan spirit emanating out of Washington, DC. So in the spirit of fairness I propose the fairness doctrine be reinstated as follows.

I love biting, scathing sarcasm. In addition to everything the author mentions, I would love to see the conservative evening newscasts air immediately after Katie Couric et. Al.

Balance would mean that NBC, MSNBC, CNN and the View would have to support the introduction of truth from the other side. That door swings both ways guess that really haven’t thought that through. Could see Oberman and Matthews allowing a Hannity or Beck personality on, nope me either.

ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN. PBS,Print, etal, need to be in the box that Fox is in.

And then there is the whole situation with PBS and NPR. Conservatives would be entitled to half of the time and resources those two tax-subsidized left-wing propaganda organs get from both the government and the people they beg from entirely too many hours of the year. Wouldn’t that be entertaining.

Who is going to determine what fair, balanced opposing opinion is? The left thinks that they are centrist and conservatives are racist, war mongering homophobes. The result would be an outright censorship of conservatives and the introduction of extreme leftists to balance their “moderate” views.

The fairness “doctrine” as previously established and as proposed by the DemonRATs, has nothing to do with balance or fairness. It's not even be considered to apply to NBC, MSNBC, CNN or other liberal biased propaganda machines. It will only apply to talk radio markets and Fox News programming.
I would propose that in the interest of fairness, politicians and political hacks be held criminally liable for lying. Problem fixed.

You have a good point there but then if they were rejected there would be law suit on top of law suit screaming discrimination under the same fairness doctrine. Could you see the SCJ ruling on that one especially if all the conservative radio and news programs got behind it to derail it in such a way. This may be a can of worms they really don’t want to open, at least I hope so.

The Fairness Doctrine would put PBS out of business. Unless, of course, exceptions are made for Government controlled and subsidized (propaganda) entities. ;-)

I've already sent an email to our local newspaper rag, and the three TV network stations in our area. I told them when the Unfairness-Anti Free Speech Bill is passed, I am going to demand one full page in the newspaper and an equal amount of time on each TV station each night to give the conservative view and take on events of the day. Of course, no response yet.
