Anyone Else Fed UP With the GOP?

Posted on 01/27/2009 9:26:08 AM PST by Karama

I am posting this, because of recent events. I am very upset with watching our freedoms being signed away by this new "President", and seeing those who are supposed to be leaders in the GOP not even batting an eye over it. I am sick of the spineless way some of the GOP behave when they should be standing up saying, "Heck No we are Not going to let you do this."

We voted for these people on the notion that they would carry out the conservative agenda that we sent them there to perform. So far we have yet to see much of this. We as citizens give these people the power to rule us. I say it is time we start taking it away if they will NOT obey the will of those who gave them their power in the first place.

I think also the crowing moment that has set me on fire for a new kind of change is the "President's" comment that he won so we should all just sit down shut up and do what ever he wants. When he told the officials we elected that he in effect told us this as well. I say now is when we need to break this silence and be as loud as we can be. I refuse to sit down and shut up any longer. I don't care if I am the only one who is willing to get a bull horn and speak my mind. I will. Conservatives, friends, silence is getting us no where, but shafted. We need to take a more proactive tack with our government. Even if it means starting a new party.

I have as of late felt that the GOP leadership has left it's grass root conservatism behind. It has fallen prey to the notion that if they become more "moderate" that they will be loved by the liberal left. Hog wash!

So in light of this, I feel if our so called "leaders" are going to leave us behind, then I feel we should do them the same turn. I call for all those with a mind for justice, and a love of freedom to stand up. All those who wish to not see this great Republic fade into the night stand up! Stand up for the constitution, for God, for the betterment of mankind! STAND UP!

Heck we are lucky if the governor came up here once in her 6 years in office. The last time McCain was here was to try and defeat prop200... it passed with 60% of the vote. Trent Franks is very involved in this district, he regularly hold telephonic townhalls that go for two hours or more and he gets people from all over his district on the calls so there is a rounded discussion. He hears all the hot button issues on those calls, so I know it isn’t just us on these sites. But we are a district that is spread out and the population is a pittance compared to Phoenix.

And he may be right. Unless we try, we will never know.

I know it’s an uphill battle. I’m willing to hit the pavement to help. I think others would too.

I would like to think that Arizona Conservatives would join in an effort like this, when others are volunteering to help.

Also, as a side note to detractors, if I hire someone to perform a job, I will damn well supervise that person to ensure that job is done the right way, ie., represent me.

Exactly.

OUR part of government OF,FOR and BY the people doesn't start or end in the voting booth...

You work with the majority of Republicans who are fighting back.

Spliting the Republicans only benefits the Democrats.

Those who think supporting Third Party loons again only benefits the Democrats.

Third Parties do not support the war against the IslamOfascists just like the Democrats including L Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin.

Third Parties are 9/11 Truthers just like the extreme left including L Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin.

The Third Party gave us Bill Clinton.

Third Party Candidates receive 1 to 5% if they are lucky.

Work within the Republican Party to get more conservatives
elected.
3 of our 5 Congressmen in San Diego are Major Conservative Republicans and this is the second largest city in Calif.

and the gratuitous Gov. Palin bashing from some on the thread shows what child like fools look like when allowed near a computer.

Some who thought punishing the Republicans in this past
election by voting for Third Party loons or sat at home
helped give us Marxist Obama.

I don’t know of anybody who could do it right now. It’s going to take someone with deep pockets.

There are very few, if any, centrist Democrats that want to “get along” with Republicans. They make no apologies for what they believe. Yet Republicans are infested with those who want to get along with socialists and communists.

Does he drift on the issues? That’s sad, if true.

I agree, we need to find someone we can count on when issues are voted on.

People like you, who ignored the warnings and the reports, helped elect BO -

It's people like you who let the GOP govern like crap, who always made excuses for them that got Obama elected.

And then tell us who brought the economy down...

George W. Bush, the rest of the GOP, the Democrats, and the Federal Reserve, who thinks economic growth is one of the world's greatest evils.

The president has a chance to counteract the other dimwits, but W decided to lead the charge to economic ruin.

Well, it’s up to us to select a person and make sure they are known to the public. And if it doesn’t work in 2010, then we’ll come back the next time.

The next time would be 2012, because we’re going after Congressmen and Senators.

We start letting people know who we are, in addition to who the candidate is. The next time we come back, they know us. They know what we stand for.

We stand for holding the Republican party officials feet to the fire on matters of Conservatism.

Heck, I have been for four years+. I could see that this is where they were going back then, when I went from a (local) Republican party volunteer to party officer, to party dissident all in a couple of months time.

Once exposed to the inner workings, I could see that it wasn't about Conservative ideology at all, but about gathering power and money and making deals; from the smallest precinct leader to the Congress and Senate.

With only a few rare exceptions, they don't give a d@m^ about what you guys want. Your calls and emails will not sway them..... at least until it is close to election time again and they are desperate for campaign money and votes. Since the election is just recently over, they don't have to worry about what conservatives think for at least another year and a half, when they MIGHT start throwing you guys a couple of bones.

I agree that we need a healthy turnover, like 1994. In 2010, conservative candidates, for the U.S. Senate and House, should campaign together, similarly to the Contract with America. They should promise that, if Republicans regain control of both houses of Congress, they’ll pass a set of about five bills, including cutting tax rates to the 1988 rates, obeying the 10th Amendment (which includes repealing all federal laws that mention abortion and spending that isn’t mentioned in the Constitution), and building a brick wall along the Mexican border. Next month, many people will celebrate the 200th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth. That would be the perfect time to recruit more conservative candidates, into the republican party.

Actually, what I'm getting fed up with is the Republican haters on FR who are just plain telling untruths about Republicans. I'm beginning to wonder if they're actually RATS who hang out here to stir up trouble and demoralize us.

I read a post about Republicans not doing anything and at the same time, House Repubs were on CNBC and Grassley was on FOX.

I know that’s the common perception, but I do believe a lot can be done if you have enough foot soldiers. If you have 50 to 100 people, you can canvas a rather large area in an afternoon. Spend four or five afternoons, and you’ve canvased thousands, perhaps ten thousand homes.

Do it three or four times before the election with the right message, and you would probably be surprised how effective that can be.

I think there are avenues open to us, even on a low budget.

Rotary, Kiwanis, and other service orgs will let your guy talk. Churches will listen. Radio interviews, television spots late at night.

You can do a lot with a relatively small amount of money.

No, he doesn’t drift with the issues, he got nailed pretty bad with Abramoff and it’s going to be almost impossible to get that clarified in time. JD is rock solid, but he led the fight against illegal immigration in AZ and the dems (and illegal voters) beat him to death with it. Unfortunately his district included ASU and all the liberal confines that surround it. He got some pretty bad publicity fighting to keep his seat.

Why don’t you tell us what you’ve been doing hot shot?

Too long to list here - but a few: I served in different offices in my local Republican Women's Committee, up to and including President. I also served in my County Republican organization. I was voted in as rep to our State Conventions several times. I served on/ran staffs for state/federal candidates...gave 'teas', escorted around on introduction tours, etc etc.

I formed and ran an organization, networking with other organizations in state and country, to stop the headlong plunge into Socialism - had bills sponsored, testified on bills in the state capitol, helped defeat family intrusive bills, was chairman of my county "Stop ERA" campaign, was guest at conference in DC (by Eagle Forum") with a private tour of the WH and our banquet speaker was President Reagan) -

I was an investigative reporter for a state wide paper and exposed a lot of the beginnings of what's going on now

and so on...

Your turn

The main thing they need to get out is that the democrats control congress. Do you know how few people actually KNOW that?

I was talking to some people in the office the other day and they were going on and on about how bad the republican congress was and I said "WHAT are you talking about, the dems have been in control since 2006". You can't believe the blank stares I got in return.

Quick to tell everyone here what to do and how to do it?

Looking at your home state, it looks like the rubber has yet to meet the road.

After you get “busy” in you own back yard and it becomes a bastion of Conservatism, then get back to us on how it's done. ,

read my post 258 to another "presumer"
