Anyone Else Fed UP With the GOP?

Posted on 01/27/2009 9:26:08 AM PST by Karama

I am posting this, because of recent events. I am very upset with watching our freedoms being signed away by this new "President", and seeing those who are supposed to be leaders in the GOP not even batting an eye over it. I am sick of the spineless way some of the GOP behave when they should be standing up saying, "Heck No we are Not going to let you do this."

We voted for these people on the notion that they would carry out the conservative agenda that we sent them there to perform. So far we have yet to see much of this. We as citizens give these people the power to rule us. I say it is time we start taking it away if they will NOT obey the will of those who gave them their power in the first place.

I think also the crowing moment that has set me on fire for a new kind of change is the "President's" comment that he won so we should all just sit down shut up and do what ever he wants. When he told the officials we elected that he in effect told us this as well. I say now is when we need to break this silence and be as loud as we can be. I refuse to sit down and shut up any longer. I don't care if I am the only one who is willing to get a bull horn and speak my mind. I will. Conservatives, friends, silence is getting us no where, but shafted. We need to take a more proactive tack with our government. Even if it means starting a new party.

I have as of late felt that the GOP leadership has left it's grass root conservatism behind. It has fallen prey to the notion that if they become more "moderate" that they will be loved by the liberal left. Hog wash!

So in light of this, I feel if our so called "leaders" are going to leave us behind, then I feel we should do them the same turn. I call for all those with a mind for justice, and a love of freedom to stand up. All those who wish to not see this great Republic fade into the night stand up! Stand up for the constitution, for God, for the betterment of mankind! STAND UP!

Good for you. Keep us informed. If you come up with a viable candidate, I'll send a small amount of money but I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is.

I can be smirk about this as my congressman is Steve King.:)

How he became our congressman is an interesting story and shows the necessity of hanging together and planning ahead.

The year he was first elected, we had a four-way primary. Iowa law says that in a primary, the candidate must win by 35% of the vote or the election will go to the district convention.

We live in a heavily Republican district so the trick was to only get the nomination. After that, it would be home free.

This process works from the bottom up so it was necessary to get as money King supporters to attend their local caucuses as possible and then for them to get themselves nominated to the country conventions and then to get themselves nominated to the district conventions.

It sounds more difficult than it is. It's not that hard. It worked and Steve eventually prevailed at the district convention. Consequently, we have one of the finest congressmen in the whole congress. I hope you've seen him. He freeps and has addressed Freepers.

Rather the two party system is DEAD.

There's a second party? I see no evidence of that.

Fed up????

After 10 years of screaming for the GOP in Congress and the Senate to pass pro-gun stuff and NOT ONE THING PASSED, then listening to them whimper, cry and bluber in 2006 when they lost their butts in the election. I walked away from the party. I tried and tried to get the GOP to do the right thing but they conveniently forgot just what gave them Congress in 1994 right after the semi auto ban was passed...

So... fed up? Nope, I’m done with the GOP. They had many chances to win my support back but failed miserably each time. Now, it’s too late. Unless the Dems mess up really, really bad by passing some anti-gun or other radical stuff, the GOP will never have majority status or control of the White House again.

I gave a lot for the party. I was basically told that my kind isn’t welcome in the party anymore. Fine. When the elections come around in 2010, I’ll remember how I was treated. If the Republicans want me to stand at the polls, give money, make calls, walk neighborhoods, put up signs, and all the other stuff I’ve wasted over a decade on, they need to do something for me first. Repeal of 922 (o) and abolishment of the BATFE is a good start.

Otherwise, I’ll just sit back and watch the party die because until they get the base back, that is exactly what is going to happen.

Mike

Do you like Iowa’s caucus system, or do you think that your state should only use primaries? Rep. Kirk was first elected in 2000. 11 Republicans ran, and the majority of them were conservative. The conservative vote split, helping Kirk win the primary, with 31% of the vote. Since then, he’s been unopposed, in the primaries. I ran, as a write-in candidate, in the 2006 primary, and a newspaper said that I got 144 votes, although I didn’t spend any money, on the campaign.

In Nov., during a meeting of a conservative club, I heard a speaker say that, unless the republican leaders become more conservative, it will become a third party and that the two major parties will be the Democrat and Constitution Parties.

Stupid to blame the whole GOP. There ARE conservative Republicans. I therefore have and continue to donate to the GOP. I will donate to the GOP and Sarahpac, in hopes of getting Sarah elected in 2012, should she decide to run. All else is cutting off our noses to spite our faces. Period.

People are so afraid to even think about joining third parties. They believe the "wasted vote" lie made up by the monopoly.

Voter 1 votes for the candidate whose views most closely resemble his own.

Voter 2 votes for a candidate who is "electable" and pays lip service to some of Voter 2's views. But once in office, the major party candidate turns around and compromises away most of those issues.

Which voter "wasted" his vote?

step 2— get a mission statement that all conservatives can agree on.

We already have one:

In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., The Conservative Party stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.

Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the conservative principal of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief when he defends America and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Obama, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.

As a conservative party we are pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.

Our Conservative Party will aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the membership of our organization as our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them to infiltrate our party to promote their repugnant and obnoxious ideas from within our ranks. We are a conservative party dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable and our party will not waver in their defense.

May God bless and protect our men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom and may God continue to bless America.

With this platform we would steal 95% of the RNCs voters. Let’s roll.

Republicans spent so much effort trying to co-opt the Democrat issues, apparently in an effort to destroy the Democrats, that they lost their identity and destroyed themselves.

And, thinking back, they were mostly a bunch of weanies anyway. I’m glad Reagan isn’t here to see this.

That was a great find. It documents how lobbyists can get congressmen by their throats to vote against their constituents wishes.

I urge everyone to research Hellman and the effect lobbyists have on legislators. I looked up 'The Hill' and it says that Hellman has relationships on the Hill that other lobbyists only dream about and as you said he was Hastert's aide.

Hastert was corrupt getting a meaningless highway extension built in IL where his "trust" bought and sold farm land for a big profit where the value was enhanced by building the road with taxpayer money.

Everyone: Call your politician today to stop today's totally wasteful pork-filled bill designed by and for pelosi san francisco socialist hateful fanatics. Let them know how angry you are.

The system is ok as far as I'm concerned but I know I am out of synch with other Iowa Republicans when I say, I'm not sure this system is fair to the other parts of the country.

Why should Iowa always be the one to go first? I don't know the best way to choose a national candidate. If we don't do it this way, the two coasts are going to have all the power and we know what will be the result of that.

The caucus system can be fun and exhausting at the same time. Sure, it's nice to have this attention and power showered on us but these candidates can wear us out at the same time. There is no end to the number of rallies, etc.

I'm usually a Johnny-come-lately supporter. The pressure gets intense because each candidate only needs the commitment of a few people to get one of the first three placements out of Iowa.

A down side to this is that I see loyalty shifts between those who should be allies. I've had to accept the fact that those I respect in one cycle may go to a candidate I don't like in another. The realignments go on and on.

I had a friend who became McCain's chairman. I let him know what I thought of it. Who knows, I may end up supporting him in his bid for gov., if he decides to do that.

Sometimes it gets difficult to forget some of these things but we must--we're all human.

I agree with you. I think that a vote is only wasted if it won’t be counted. If someone writes in “Mickey Mouse” or “Bugs Bunny” and votes for that write-in candidate, that’s a wasted vote. Whenever someone votes for a candidate he or she prefers, and the vote is counted, it’s not wasted.

FAXd and called my Congressman (Repubican) this morning. His vote is “NO”.

This is going to end up being owned by the Democratics. “Porky Fat Stimulus” — with no stimulus.

You are not alone. We are here, and far more pissed off, we have had a LONG time to build it up.
Our Government does NOT represent us anymore and it has not for years.

It all goes back to when Conservatives stayed hone in 2006 and Libtards took over congress. This is year three of their reign of shame, and we are feeling it. OholiO is just the latest symptom of the disease.
