The Commonwealth Conservative ^ | 1/20/2009 | C. E. van Avery

Somewhere around 2002 the amount of money governments in the United States pay out to employees surpassed the amount of money paid to manufacturing and construction workers:

[go to post for graph]

It would be easy to level a broadside at the Bush Administration, as they were in charge at the time, but one can easily see from the graph that the trend in government payrolls has been on a nearly straight-line march since 1969. Only during the Reagan Administration (1980-1986) was there a sustained decline and control on the expansion of government. If anyone wonders...

They don't hide it either. obama told ‘Joe the Plumber’ he was going to take from him and give it someone else. It happened on camera but people who vote straight dem are generally the most obtuse and went about vilifying the poor guy Joe for asking an honest question.

That is very informative.

I remember that a few years ago someone observed that India's problem was that they had too many people in government. India may have since turned the corner in the right direction. The US may have turned the corner in the wrong (left) direction.

As for blame, perhaps President Bush did not stop Congress. Congress did not stop President Bush. President Obama’s complaint seems to be that Government does not spend enough. That kind of thinking is representative of the Democratic party. One can blame almost all the politicians.

There are a few conservatives heroes in the House and Senate who tried to resist the trend toward more government spending. Almost all were Republicans. I'll give Democrats credit for trying to rein in government, when they deserve it. For now, they are America's socialist party in all but name.

In the same way that one can fault almost all the politicians, one can also fault almost all the press, almost all of academia, almost all of Hollywood. Liberalism holds sway in America, as fascism once held sway in Italy, and national socialism (Nazism) once held sway in Germany. In truth it's all socialism, a call for unity with (under) government.

We are truly doomed.

As the economy fails, who is going to be there to grow America? Government does not provide real growth, they only steal. Beware the insatiable appetite of government. The libs will eat us up and spit out the bones. Debt slavery here we come.

So it's true, government CAN generate wealth?

One would think financial decimation would be in store for us if this ever became real if government couldn't..... /s

The Chinese? How about the environazis - they've done more to ruin manufacturing in this country than the Chinese could accomplish with an armed invasion!

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I’ll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger’s hand
In a...desperate land

Jim Morrison’s words never before so rung true...

There is a correction at the website linked and a change of name for the article: Not that it makes much of a differance.
