Now that Barack Obama will be the 44th president of the United States and commander-in-chief, will he do away with the military’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gays?
Within days of becoming president, Bill Clinton sought to eliminate the long-standing prohibition against homosexuals enlisting into military service. His proposal met such stark opposition from within the ranks of the military that he was forced to compromise with the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. Now, instead of a total prohibition of gays in the military, recruiters and commanders are prohibited from asking potential recruits and those under their command if they are homosexuals. Instead, it is acceptable for homosexuals to serve in the military so long as they keep their sexual orientation to themselves. Any admission or evidence of homosexual activity is grounds for a discharge.

I really doubt they join to troll for sex. I am sure the reasoning for each individual is unique, just like everyone else. Some want to serve, some want to make a point, some want the experience..

In a Military Times poll, a HUGE number of people said that they would not re-enlist, or would consider not re-enlisting should DADT go the way of the Dodo. A large enough number to totally cripple the military for a very, very long time.

I agree. There must be plenty of less stressful opportunities for gay sex other than a life in the military. Plus, these days how many straight people would join the military just to troll for sex? Very few, I would suspect.
Just look at what the homosexuals did to the Catholic Church.

It’s this kind of cr*p that costs Repubs elections. I used to be a government contractor and knew a man who was a Master Chief in the Navy. He was gay and I never knew it until he told me. He was in both Desert Storms and he was a good man.

Precisely, and why would most homos want to join the military —think about it, they get to share bathrooms and showers with mostly young boys. Imagine if a normal 18 year old male was permited to shower with the women? Would some seek such an opportunity?

Democrats/liberals don’t really care what they do to the military as long as they get to carry on with their “social experiments”. Just look what they’ve done to our educational system.
