Earth on the Brink of an Ice Age
Pravda ^ | 1/11/09 | staff

Posted on 01/11/2009 7:10:15 AM PST by xtinct

The earth is now on the brink of entering another Ice Age, according to a large and compelling body of evidence from within the field of climate science. Many sources of data which provide our knowledge base of long-term climate change indicate that the warm, twelve thousand year-long Holocene period will rather soon be coming to an end, and then the earth will return to Ice Age conditions for the next 100,000 years.

Ice cores, ocean sediment cores, the geologic record, and studies of ancient plant and animal populations all demonstrate a regular cyclic pattern of Ice Age glacial maximums which each last about 100,000 years, separated by intervening warm interglacials, each lasting about 12,000 years.

Sad when you have to read Pravda to get the real story.

That accuweather guy was right. Russia convinces the world we are in a warming stage, controls gas to Europe and we are REALLY coming into an ice age and Russia has Europe by the you know whats.

Of course all this is probably crap anyway.

What do you suppose really goes through algores mind when he hears this stuff?

In all seriousness, from various bits and pieces gleaned from unwary news stories and personal accounts of encounters, Al Gore comes across as a very strange man whose behavior and speech frequently defy rational explanation. As to what he really thinks about AGW, god only knows. No doubt it is uninformed, but it may well also be totally bizarre. Probably it is best kept private.

See my post #20.

My other wise intelligent friend crossed her arms, lifted her chin and said “I believe in global warming!” It was like religion, she believed it and nothing was going to change her mind. It made me sad.

I guess they need a new panic to peddle when the ACGW hysteria wears off. Perhaps AlGore can get another peace price for his brave fight against Global Cooling? You heard it here first!

I, for one, hope this is true.
When the swamp( New Orleans) has 60 degree summers and REAL winters I’ll believe it- and be the happiest woman around.
I LOVE cold, dreary, gray weather- like today- love it , love it. I’d nudge the sun out an AU or two if I could.

we are not even one moth into this winter and already setting all time record low temps in Europe. Sea ice is back to 1970’s levels, no viewable Sunspots, Alaska is seeing temps of -70f! The Ice Age is might already be here. Lets see how long into Spring the snow cover lasts in Canada. Glad I live in S.E. Texas.

If someone would have told me 20 years ago that Pravda would be a more trustworthy publication than The New York Times or The Washington Post, I would have laughed at them...

It’s as cold as a well digger’s bottom here in Germany. Some are saying it’s the coldest winter in 20 years.

Another LITTLE ice age maybe; the real ice ages had cosmic causes and nothing like that is on the radar screen at present.

There is something to safe and cozy about a grey cold day. I actually get EXCITED in the fall because I just feel the security and coziness coming on.

I’m wierd that way I guess.

...on the other hand, when has Pravda been considered a reliable source? Oh, wait... AP, NYT, Wash Post, Time, Newsweek...I guess it is at the same level of credibility

Strange how one-sided propagandists always seem to lose credibility...

"be the happiest woman around"

What are you doing to do with all those 10 of milions of Yankees that migrate south because of the cold? Yankee's can't live on land covered by a mile of ice ya know.
