Does anybody have any good news this evening?

A $75 fill up is costing me $45.

My dollar is down in Canada, but Russia, Iran, and Venezuela are going bankrupt.

The US Military has found a way to grow new limbs and organs in people.

Smiling yet?

“good news”? Lot’s of retail store space will soon be available. Undoubtedly to be used to dispense government cheese.

I just received this in email from a cousin.

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you tend to give gift cards
Around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards will be not be
honored after the holidays. Stores that are planning to close after
Christmas are still selling the cards through the holidays even though
the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them
from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankruptcy
Planning). Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be cautious about.

Circuit City (filed Chapter 11)
Ann Taylor- 117 stores nationwide closing
Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug ,and Catherine's to close 150 stores nationwide
Eddie Bauer to close stores 27 stores and more after January

BTW where’s that clique of Freepers who used to sneer “chicken little” at anyone who expressed the slightest misgiving as to the direction of the economy?

Picking chunks of blue sky out of their scalps, like me.

Maybe so, but I don’t remember you being particularly condescending or dismissive. These guys were & they owe a few of us an apology.

Saw that name Fashion Bug and remembered the horrid bug chirping sound they played 24/7.

I thought they'd been totally driven out of business by shopping center managers who figured out what the bug call was doing to other people's customers.

Things not always what they seem:

http://phx.corporate-ir.net/preview/phoenix.zhtml?c=78167&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1229079

"For the year, the Company expects to open 66 new stores, comprised of 25 LOFT stores, 23 Factory stores, 14 LOFT Outlet stores and four Ann Taylor stores. As part of its strategic restructuring program, the Company expects to close approximately 60 stores in fiscal 2008, with 33 Ann Taylor stores planned for closure and 27 LOFT stores planned for closure."

The net will be 66 new - 60 closed = 6 additional stores

Absolutely! Whenever there has been any sign of economic growth Democrats raised or proposed tax increases.

Maybe the worldwide obesity epidemic is not what we thought it was? :)

We were just storing up for the next few years.

My mother keeps sending me crap like this, no matter how many times I tell her to check snopes.com before forwarding emails her girlfriends send her. I used to verify the facts and send them back to her, now I just delete the emails and move on with my life.
