The word among GOP insiders here in Georgia is that Newt Gingrich is considering throwing his name in the hat to be the next Chairman for the RNC....

I was disappointed when Newt's false slight of hand here.
On the couch with Nancy Pelosi, Newt demanded action not "debate" as he claims here.
Before I read a single wise reply from my fellow Freepers, let me now say that this is a wonderful idea. Newt is a fellow who has the gift of gab and has a hold of conservative ideals.
yes, it’s time for Newt to step up and take a leadership position, the rest of those wussies be damned.
I think Newt would be fantastic. He is one of the few Republicans who can go on TV, argue our cause, and be effective. Newt for RNC Chair!
Absolutely not. Influence however is another thing.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sorry.
NOT!
The clear solution is to bypass the RNC, recruit our own candidates, and file a record number of primary challenges.
Wouldn’t you agree? :) Long time!
There needs to be a shakeup. Someone with experience and media savvy.
...balloon to a gun fight.
That’s pretty funny.
Like the tag line, too.
That being said he was the most articulate person who spoke for the party this cycle. He is exactly what we need-someone who can get to the point clearly and concisely.
Your whole post illustrates specifically why this particular position is perfect for newt. Dean the scream was the DNC Chair, they have him hidden in a closet somewhere, but he did a great job, clearly.
Newt please do it!
Yup, you hit it on the head. Newt can’t hope to win any major office anymore, but he is a brain trust with a real understanding of where the party needs to go, policy-wise. He’d make a very strong RNC chair, IMHO.
bttt
Okay, sure, now go find some new, real, conservative, articulate & intelligent “blood” and let us know who is available.
To quote Paul McCartney....Let It Be.
Haley Barbour or Steve Forbes.
Newt is wack when it comes to global warming.
He has gone from wanting to uphold liberty to wanting to be accepted by his Washington buddies. Don’t assume the Newt of 1989-1996 is the same guy we have now.
That said, I really feel sorry for conservatives we send to DC. It is like putting a pentecostal preacher in the faculty lounge of the sociology department at a university. Everyone wants to be liked, and that natural need digs away at their foundations. Just look at how brittle and hateful so many Freepers become when they consider what we are up against. It is the same awareness that what we are saying is really and truly hated by some vicious and nasty people. The temptation is either to be hateful like them or compromise. The desired course requires thick skin, confidence, courage, principles, and true leadership. Men and women like that are hard to come by. Never mind the constant sexual/ego temptations that come to men who are around that much power and money (Newt).
The fact that I feel sorry for them does not make me want to endorse them, though. Newt is brilliant, no doubt. I just would like someone not as corrupted by the Washington culture, and I thing he is. Just my $.02.
JMHO, just put up a whole list of possibles.
Then, when libs and the MSM go postal on somebody and he/she is still standing (and maybe even pitching stuff back as a bonus) after a few weeks under fire, put ‘em in the job.
Newt’s as good a place to start as any.
“Secondhand Aztlan Smoke causes drug addiction obesity in global warming cancer immigrant terrorists”
Geez, Laz, with that tagline you’ll be overloading the Echelon systems in no time!
