There's a great restaurant near downtown called "The House". Steak, seafood - quiet little place.
Best meal I have ever eaten.

If you drop your wallet, kick it to Oakland before you pick it up.

The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is really worth the time and money. It has a number of sailing ships and a WW2 US submarine. From there you can walk all the way out to Fort Point (long walk, but very enjoyable on a pleasant day) and visit the masonry fort built to protect the harbor in the 1840s. You can also see the underside of the Golden Gate Bridge from there — quite impressive. You can walk back but you might think about getting a taxi back from there.

San Francisco is a sewer pit.It may be filled with sewer-dwellers, but it's still one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Don't forget to put flowers in your hair.
Also, make sure to pick up your heart on the way out.

If you’re feeling frisky, wear your McCain/Palin button and be prepared to respond to the verbal and maybe physical assaults you are sure to be subjected to.
