I think those are all assumptions about what somebody else should be doing. In McCain's case -- his eligibility is being challenged in the courts. There's been a few news stories on it, not many. One is the New York Times a few days ago. But it is NOT a lead item. And thus -- less less less so with Obama.

Obama is the perfect man-god of our times -- at least it is heretical to say anything that is not glowingly positive about him. We can count on YOU not to be a heretic, right?

The problem for Senator Obama is if he were born outside the U.S. on foreign soil. It would make him ineligible to be President even if he’s a citizen because of his mother.

John McCain was born in Panama -- both mother & father were American citizens. Is he eligible?

I challenge that reading of natural born. My understanding based on Blackstone and English common law of that time — which is the time when the Constitution was written and thus informs intent, is that BOTH parents have to be citizens at the child’s birth.

No, he was born on a U.S. military base located in (at the time) a U.S. territory and both of his parents were natural born U.S. citizens.

According to the Act of March 26, 1790, 1 Stat. 103, “the children of citizens of the United States, that may be borne beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural-born citizens of the United States.”

Congress later stipulated that individuals born in the Canal Zone after February 1904 were automatically U.S. citizens.

Funny how this comes out when the majority online believe Obama’s COLB is forged. It was sat upon until now.

Here’s a theory. The real Obama died as a child and this guy is God knows who! hmmmmmm.........

Sounds like a book I read once!

I really don’t believe this. Another thing....from the blog. This is just a typo right?

Ann’s mother acquired Indonesian citizenship when she married Soertoro.

Actually, both parents have to be U.S. citizens for the child to be a citizen by birth.

If only one parent is a U.S. citizen, then that parent must show that he or she lived in the U.S. for at least ten years prior to the child’s birth, with at least five of those years after the age of 14.

This is something I have not read about, and I tend to keep up with politcal case law. If this were true, you would think the MSM and the Obama crew would be all over it in their political rhetoric, nary a word. ;-)

He at least poses as a citizen of East Africa, and it's a simple fact that he was born a Muslim, because his father was Muslim. Once a Muslim, you're a Muslim till you die, according to sharia law.

In the most detailed study yet of John McCain’s eligibility, a law professor has concluded that he does not qualify as a “natural-born citizen.”

But to be eligible to become President of the United States one MUST have been born within the boundaries of the U.S. (this is a requirement spelled out in the U.S. Constitution), or one of its territories (parents in the territories must both be U.S. citizens).

Not true. The Constitution uses the term "natural-born" but fails to define it. Congress gets to define "natural born", and they've defined it such that McCain is included. The Naturalization Act of 1790 stipulates, "the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens".

Under the Fourteenth Amendment, anyone born on US soil to parents other than diplomats or members of an occupying army is included, whether Congress likes it or not. That takes care of, for instance, Bobby Jindahl, whose parents were grad students from India, should he ever decide to run, or should McCain choose him for VP.

"If Obama isn’t eligible, than neither is McCain."

Apples and Oranges.

McCain is a natural-born citizen under the law. He was born to a military family serving in U.S. territory.

If there were a shred of evidence that Barak Hussein Obama were born in the U.S. it would have been presented by now. The fact that it has not speaks loudly.

Barak Hussein Obama is not even a U.S. citizen, since he has not gone through the naturalization process, which is necessary because he was born in foreign territory, and his mother does not qualify him as a citizen under the law, and thus he is not even serving legally in the Senate.

McCain was born on a military base which makes him a citizen. His parents were US citizens, his father in the military.
