Interesting points...
Another thing I read at TD’s blog that struck me (though it’s off topic of the COLB) Keep in mind- his Pakistan trips- for whatever reason- were not mentioned in “Dreams of my Father” and while I’ve not read “The Audacity of Hope” I’m told it’s not mentioned there either.
~snip~
He supposedly went with a College Roommate to visit friends. But at the time Pakistan was under martial law and it was on the banned travel list for US citizens at the time. I think you might have had to be a muslim to even travel to Pakistan at the time.

Could be, but then you'd be the one doing the "restricting" ~ Pakistan is an amalgam of quite different "nations" ~ and even has a vast area where local home-rule is the standard. They actually have villages where the standard of government is whatever was being done in the Late Stone Age.
Trying to recall if it's ever been on the list of countries to which mail was prohibited, but I don't think it has. No doubt State Department has put out warnings about the place, but that doesn't mean the government won't let you go there ~ remember, they are our ALLY! We have treaties with them.

What’s Mr. Corsi’s freeper handle? AND ... more importantly, perhaps ... where is expatguy? No posts from him for a few moons, and his blog last posting that I saw was June 20th.

I have no idea if Corsi has a freeper sign in.
I noticed quite a number of people that were posting on our big birth certificate thread have not been posting since July 15 and 16. Interesting.

If it is all so obvious, why did Congress see fit to pass a special law regarding the Canal Zone?

Or posted by family in Hawaii, while the birth is somewhere else. The likely scenario.

Because, it turns out, they were "spooked" into doing something. All you need is for a Congressional staff attorney to raise a question everyone thinks hasn't been asked before and you get that kind of response.
It's like the Founding Fathers didn't send ambassadors abroad with their wives and children.
It's an old question answered thousands of years ago.
Remember, Congress is not to be equaled when it comes to stupily reacting to panic.

I suppose it’s possible. I am not convinced we’ve heard the end on this subject.

Jimmuh Kkkkatuh was out of office and Ronald Reagan was preparing to send aid to the Mujahaddin.
BTW, Pakistan has always had a Christian and Hindu minority. There's never been a prohibition on Christians traveling there that I've ever read about or heard of. Recall, the Brits ran the area for a couple of centuries.
