Obama was likely born in Hawaii does that mean hes Eligible? July 22, 2008 · 19 Comments
*The birth announcement was tracked down by Lori Starfelt, the producer of a documentary that PUMA is working on.
Is that legal advice? ;-)
Of course, Senator Obama was born quite some time ago. But even now, what you stated is not correct, I believe, but IANAL.
No, it isn’t legal advice. But we don’t know exactly where he was born. That’s why it is so important for him to present his birth certificate.
Stanley Ann Dunham, his mother, was still a teenager and there have been some interesting written exchanges concerning whether her being a U.S. citizen would entitle her son, if born on foreign soil, automatic citizenship. But that isn’t my concern. You can be a citizen but not be eligible to be President.
My concern is his being born on foreign soil, which would automatically disqualify him from the Presidency.
Read the U.S. Constitution. It is quite clear that a U.S. President has to be natural born within the United States, or, according to a resolution passed by the U.S. Senate, born on U.S. territory to parents BOTH OF WHOM are U.S. citizens.
I think that’s kind of unambiguous, don’t you?
The weird part is that any children born to illegal aliens inside the U.S. can grow up to be President!

This is not proof. So, if Obama was born in Hawaii, why the fake COLB?
***I know it’s not proof. But that doesn’t matter, because the MSM will scream it out at the top of its lungs and call anyone who thinks otherwise as racist.
We had PROOF that Bill Clinton was a sexual harrasser. The media managed to turn that one around, so turning this one around will be small potatoes unless there are dozens of freepers and conservatives willing to file lawsuits in individual states right now. I don’t see that happening.
That’s the first I’ve heard of that one. This thing just keeps getting weirder.
Wrong. The statute implementation of the Constitutional provision admits McCain, bars an O’Bama if he had a foreign father and was born to an American mother who had lived less than 5 years in the United States as an adult.
There’s so much here. This needs to be reposted.
1. I can’t believe the thing about taking the American Flag off the plane. Why doesn’t anyone ask him about that?
2. He’s getting away with murder when it comes to statements.
3. The whole thing is one big press photo op and he controls the press.
4. This reminds me of that Olympic Star...years ago who won the 100. Lewis? What was his name? He pulled this sh*t with the press, charging for interviews, and they dropped him like a hot potato.
5. I’m not of the opinion that regardless how this guy got where he is, inside he’s Muslim. He eats thinks, beaths the Muslim faith. He is no more true Christian than Lucifer.
6. I’m still bothered by him taking the flag of our nation off his plane. This guy is not a nationalist. He’s global. He has no identity with us, thus his hatred of the war.
The more this thing gets brought up, the more it will appear that there are dirty tricks going on and the more he will be perceived as a victim of them. Sympathy for him as a persecuted victim will only help HIM, not us.
Let’s stick to pointing out how totally wrong his positions are and how lacking in the qualities one should have to be president he is.
Yes, it has served him well. My point exactly.
The issue is that he has a forgery on his website.
***Of course it’s a forgery, but the MSM is greeting it with a yawn.
Whether he was born in HI or not is a separate issue
***The MSM will just help him stonewall the whole thing. Some kind of effort on the level of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth would be called for, and I don’t see that level of commitment on this issue. I think this issue is withering on the vine and nothing will really come of it.
I followed your link and don’t see any reference in it to a Kenyan birth (but there’s interesting info on his fundraising).
“When Ann told her parents about the African student at school, they invited him over for dinner. Her father didn’t notice when his daughter reached out to hold the man’s hand, according to Obama’s book. Her mother thought it best not to cause a scene. As Obama would write, “My mother was that girl with the movie of beautiful black people playing in her head.”
On Feb. 2, 1961, several months after they met, Obama’s parents got married in Maui, according to divorce records. It was a Thursday. At that point, Ann was three months pregnant with Barack Obama II. Friends did not learn of the wedding until afterward. “Nobody was invited,” says Abercrombie. The motivations behind the marriage remain a mystery, even to Obama. “I never probed my mother about the details. Did they decide to get married because she was already pregnant? Or did he propose to her in the traditional, formal way?” Obama wonders. “I suppose, had she not passed away, I would have asked more.”
This is c&p from the TIME article ‘Raising Obama’. I read the article a few months ago when it came out and thought that it mentioned marriage.
In reading the comments section after Texas Darlin’s post- I learned that it was customary for local births to be announced in the newspaper- the info did NOT come from the family, but from Vital Records.
Another poster stated it is not/was not possible for someone to hold dual citizenship in Indonesia- said he/she knew this from personal experience. I don’t know if that’s true?
I learn as much from reading comments as from the posts!
Other countries control their own rules of citizenship, make their own records concerning the matter, etc.
For a month or so I once had the opportunity to claim Swiss citizenship (in a canton with some really old fashioned rules) but I didn't go there and register. That was in a situation where we hadn't had a Swiss citizen in the family lineage for over two centuries!
No way a recording nurse is going to know to put down "dual citizen with xyz country".
There's no absolute rule on the matter worldwide ~ different countries have different laws and customs.
You’re thinking of expatguy and his blog:)
He’s had some very interesting insights.
I also have some experience with little local newspapers, from having friends and family that have worked on them, and also from making nice-nice with the local reporterfolk on a number of occasions. Based on on that knowledge, such as it is, I'd think it would not be too hard at all to specially insert a birth announcement into that list based on the hospital manifest. It is a highly speculative and low probability possibility, but it must also be considered in the scope of the fact base known at this time.
That's the Sukarno government period. Shortly after things settled down and the old man started looting the place he decided that his top government officials should be "asli", or "native", and not "buken asli", or "foreign". To do that he began expelling all remnants of the colonial administration, all mixed-race Eurasian people, and even full-Malay type people who had learned to speak Dutch and/or English.
Eventually Sukarno's rule weakened and the next thing you know a movement within the Indonesian military decided it would be a good idea to kill all the Commies.
At the same time others, probably Moslem interests, decided it would be a good idea to kill all the Hindus left over from the old days. And then, there were those who felt it would be good to kill as many Chinese as possible.
Toward the end of that period of massive blood-letting, and yet another flow of refugees to the West, or Africa, or anywhere but Indonesia, Suharto took over.
So, what you had were old colonial standards, Sukarno standards, and Suharto standards for citizenship, rights of citizenship, etc., that were all different, and yet applicable to a wide variety of people of an immense variety of ethnicities.
I am sure State Department has people who specialize in "Indonesian citizenship" so they can advise ICE on who is what, when, how and why.
Children born to American ambassadors abroad, or the Marine Guard, or other American citizens resident in such places, and the Marine dependents there were not likely excluded from the category of "natural born" were they?
Think about this a minute ~ why in the world would we take the children born to our representatives to the world abroad and deny them their right to run for President simply beause they might be born in a Parisian hospital rather than in the embassy?
