Lieberman would be my hope. then we don’t have to support the ticket, it will win anyway, and conservatives can reorganize around a third party or a reconstituted GOP.

When called by McCain's campaign for money, I've been asking, "Why are you calling me, I'm a conservative?" They appear to be getting a lot of that.
I will likely vote for the guy because there is not good alternative (candidate, message or otherwise). But when it comes to the prospect of exciting me, that boat has sailed.

As Governor, Jindal has tackled corruption and lax ethics in a state known for nasty, dirty governance. He turned a state health department that was $400 million in debt into one with a $220 million surplus. I like Bobby Jindal but this claim strains believability. Didnt he just take office a couple of months ago? Unless he eliminated the department I don't see how a $600M swing could happen in such a short time.

Jindal or Watts would work fine for me; Romney would be out unless he publically renounced and gave up the special underwear....

I think Jindal should actually serve as Governor of Louisiana for a time before jumping into presidential politics. He’s still very young, and I’m not sure tying himself to McCain is the best political move in the long run.

I still like Mitt for Veep, but either Jindal or J.C. Watts would really fire things up.

It doesn't make any sense to me that McCain would choose a conservative to be his VP. He has made it crystally, painfully
UBER clear that he is banking on winning this election by gaining independent & moderate votes. It won't help him much with those voters if he picks a real conservative. He has as much as SAID that he is not trying to win over conservative voters.
Will you people that have stated you are voting for McCain because he is "better than Obama" still vote for him if he picks a democrat like Lieberman, or a liberal RINO for VP? Would you consider that to be an ominous sign that doesn't bode well for the future? McCain has caved on nearly every other issue in favor of the liberals - I believe it's only going to be a matter of time before he caves on the war issue as well.
We're going to be so screwed after November - I'd rather the democrats get the blame for it than the republicans. Besides, I really do believe that the two parties have an unspoken agreement to switch power every so often & keep the status quo going - this way they ALL can stay in power for their whole lives. The coin has already been tossed & the agreement is that this year is the democrat's turn to win. McCain's job is to throw the election - and I think he will do his job magnificently!

I’m intrigued by Sarah Palin. In addition to strong conservative credentials, I am hoping that if she were added to the ticket she might at some point convince Juan to change his mind about drilling in ANWR.

He’s relatively inexperienced, but he looks pretty good on the issues. I’d be fine with him as VP.

Jindal is still too unknown, and no one who wants a future in politics will risk his/her career being MacCain's running mate. A MacCain win is still a huge longshot and even if he does become POTUS, people seldom remember who the VPOTUS is.
They'll pick some sacrificial republican who'd never have a chance at the white house otherwise, e.g., Trent Lott.

Well, since it’s too late for McCain to really excite the base by dropping out, he may as well try something else.
