Hi everyone. My mother was recently diagnosed with a very rare cancer that affects about 1,000 people a year. It's called pseudomyxoma peritonei. It has been an journey of misdiagnoses, wrong advice,etc. and now after a laparotomy we know what's causing my mother's belly to get so big. I saw my mother about two or three weeks ago and she dropped a lot of weight. I don't mean to depress anyone on this Easter weekend but a lot of folks are going to church and I'd appreciate the prayers.
Bless your heart. I lost my dad last month, and the prayers from FReeRepublic were so meaningful at that time.

I am so saddened everytime I hear about docs who misdiagnosis someone...especially when it happens over a long period of time by multiple doctors. Rather than turn this into my frequent medical outrage rant, I will pray for your family, and for peace..

Heavenly Father, look with mercy upon cyborg’s beloved Mom ... may she take hold of the sustaining power that is hers through the Presence of the Holy Spirit. Lead her through the days ahead ... direct her every step ... that she and her family might know the course of treatment that leads to a return to vibrant health. Heal her, I pray O Lord, through the touch of Your healing hand. Yet if healing comes through her medical team, grant them wisdom ... put before them every right course of treatment ... let them not overlook any possibility that would lead to complete recovery. Thank You, Merciful Father, that it is Your hand that holds the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:10. And it is to You we ask for her life and her health.

They must believe the treatment will work. We've found that medical doctors are not willing to try a treatment unless they believe there is hope.

Thanks for asking. Just so happens a lot was revealed today. She was seen at Memorial Sloan Kettering today and was given a preliminary diagnosis of stage IV appendix cancer. My mom is starting chemo in three weeks.
