McCain cuts deal with delegates to hand WV victory to Huckabee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.

Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.

Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

If McCain is our nominee, the rat wins the WH for certain. I will NEVER vote for McCain under any circumstance.

The great irony of all this will be the fact that if is wasn’t for McCain’s bitch in the race, McCain likely doesn’t win the party nomination.

The vast majority of Hucklebee supporters are simply ONE issue Republicans, namely Abortion. Now why they seem to focus entirely on Romney’s past campaign statements and not the real issue of: whom is more likely to nominate conservative jurists, is a mystery to me.

McCain voted to put GINSBERG on the court. Seriously, no Senator can pretend that they didn’t know that this person was a total leftist loon who would NEVER overturn Roe vs. Wade. These dummies can follow McCain and Hucklebee over the cliff all they want. I will not. Neither will my wife.

Furthermore to all you Huckebee supporters, please explain to me what his son did or did not do to that dog? And what Hucklebee did or did not do to twart the law? If the rumors are true, the MSM will drop this bomb on Republicans at the most opportune time for the Democrat candidate.

While I might be able to overlook this indescretion, there is not a snowballs chance in hell that my wife could.

So let’s think about all of this. Conservatives would “destroy” a man who votes their way 85% of the time for what reason?

Could it be because they’re being irrational, spoiled children?

Pretty stupid......

Partisan.. Do you really believe what you’re saying here..or trying to spin it to make it sound all nasty and evil here.. Lets go over this one more time..since you clearly failed recent US History. Bush won Florida—won in the 1st and 2nd recounts done..was certified the winner. All the while..Sore/Loserman began whining about things like chads and military ballots that didnt have a return address on them...Gore whines more..saying there should be a new election..or that he should be declared the winner..just because... Gore whines to the Florida Supreme Court..to out of wholecloth to create new arbitary, Election standards to favor him..the Florida Supremes decide to give AlGore what he wanted. Bush then exercised his LEGAL right to ask the Supreme Court to correct the clearly erronous decision of the Florida Supremes..which..by a 7-2 vote they did...

You said there is no complaining in politics. If Bush team hadn't complained to the US Supreme Court we would have president Gore.

Now..getting back to what occured in WV..Basically..you’re taking the AlGore route now..

No, I said this is Clintonesque. I don't think Romney should go to the WV Supreme Court as Al Gore went to the Florida Supreme Court to overtun a legal election.

Should Romney just be “given” the WV delegates now just “because”...Should their be a “new election”?

Point to the post where I said that.

The rules of the WV convention were VERY clear.. Candidate MUST get a result of 50.1 of the delegates in order to win. ALL of the candidate failed to do so on the first ballot... A second ballot was taken..people were free to vote as they wished..and Romney again came up short..and Huckabee got the needed 50.1 threshold. Where is the subterfuge? Where is the quid pro quo? Answer..ITS NOT THERE.. so..again...QUIT WHINING.. go try to win some states...

My words were "rascals" and "shenanigans". It's important to point this out so everyone can see what kind of men Huckabee, McCain are and what kind of people their supporters are for admiring these shenanigans, no different than the Clintons and their supporters. Giuliani, Hunter, Thompson, and Tancredo had the honor to get out of the way and let the best man win...Huckabee: no honor. If you want to call it "whining", fine...again thank goodness Bush was a "whiner" in 2000 to the US supreme Court or else we would have had president gore in 2000.

“McCain voted to put GINSBERG on the court.”

There were only two votes who voted against Ginsberg, two Republicans. She was approved with 98-2 vote. That meant a lot of Republicans, conservative Republicans, voted to approve her to the US Supreme Court.

Bull taco, his savvy consists of running a leftwing campaign, after spending the last 8 years as a Democrat, courting leftwing media approval and flirting for VP with Kerry against his President during wartime!

Even I could do that, kissing MSM and Dim arses, for good press is easy, being a serious Republican Presidential Candidate is not.

Do you think the end justifies the means?

I think you play the game to win within the established rules and guidelines. I’d have very little respect for a candidate that didn’t. I don’t see a thing wrong with one candidate backing another to further their cause. In the end only one will succeed and be the nominee no matter how many alliances each of them make. It will be the choices we make as we go through each of our state selection process as to who that nominee will be. It will be a compromise choice because we don’t all agree on who is the correct one. Again the thing about life and choices.....

If there are people in our party..who are so set on either A. not voting or B. voting for Hillary if McCain is the nominee..then quite frankly..they DESERVE to see what our country turns into with Hillary at the helm and a Democratic congress..

Expecting politicians to act like like choirboys is a recipe for failure and disappointment.

It would be like asking soldiers to behave like guidance counselors.

Ain't. Gonna. Happen. And furthermore, we really don't want it to happen. I want my guys to be the toughest, meanest SOBs in the room when it comes to beating the other side.

That's why we have elections. Otherwise, we could just have a "nice-off" and call it a day.

YOu have no proof that Huckabee has been “bought” off..and to say that he’s “prostituting” himself is quite frankly a rude thing to say.

What a load of BS. Huckabee has not only prostituted himself but HE is the one that has been rude umpteen times. Metamucil, puberty, devil, bunker mentality etc. And if you don't know what I'm referring to then you don't know Mike Huckabee.

It is not that the deal was illegal - it's that it confirms their tag teaming for each other. What was most telling was that the McCain/Huckabee folks cut a deal BEFORE the vote went to being between Romney and Huckabee because they obviously were worried that some of Huckabee's supporters might change their mind.

Bottomline - this puts an end to the lie that the McCain and Huckabee campaigns are actually in competition with each other.

Much as I hate to admit it, you’re right.

Mitt may lack the requisite Machiavellian instinct to be President.

You have it all wrong. It is the GOP establishment that propped up Giulianni first and now McCain...it is absolutely their fault. I won’t vote for McCain and I’ll vote straight ticket except McCain.
